ESS VT3 Supercharger - EAS Dyno Results - 703WHP / 478WTQ STD and 685WHP / 466WTQ SAE

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey guys, I took the car down to EAS today to have Tom and Steve dyno the car, this time with a slightly smaller pulley, ~1psi more than before. ESS and I have developed the car in stages, starting with a modest 10 psi, then 12, and now 13.5psi, well today the car hit 700whp STD, 685SAE.

We could probably go with more boost, but this blower is most likely maxed out at 13-14psi. The DCT is holding strong, AFR's are good on the in car gauge, high 11's to low 12's, this was on 11 gallons of 91/100 mix and 4 gallons of E85.

Robert will put together a full overview but for now here is the highest run today. I will also eventually dyno again at Specialty Z, another widely used dynojet in my area. It reads the same as EAS' dyno, in fact I hit exactly the same #'s on the previous, larger, pulley, 686 STD and 667 SAE, on both dyno's within a few weeks apart.

SPECIAL THANKS to: Anthony@EAS for the below vid and pics, AWESOME work as always!

Nice man! Been waiting for someone to hit 700whp! I've never thought going built is worth it unless it hit at lease the 700 mark which you have done. Very nice man!

One question, you mentioned the AFR being good in the in car guage. Does this differ from what's shown on the dyno? I can't see clearly. A little clarification may help. Would be beneficial to know if the in car guage or dyno is more accurate to judge these kinds of things (for everyone).

First guy to break that 700 mark, correct?

Nik, good points but both IMG and I have been doing the VT3 in stages, not unlike what most companies do when they develop a product, we didn't start with high boost, but instead we have gradually been increasing it, so things need to be kept into context for each stage. This block is not sleeved, but it's absolutely strong enough to handle this boost level, as long as the tune is solid, and the octane level is sufficient. Now I can't run 91 only with this much boost, but the car made over 600whp on 91 only, you can't do that on a stock motor, so things need to be presented in context, not just what the the highest result is!

Fair question on the AFR, it's a little lean up top according to the sniffer, but it looks like the sniffer reads .5 - 1 leaner than my gauge does, which is pretty common. The car had a race gas blend, with a few gallons of E85 so you can run it a little leaner than you would with just pump. We did another run right after with an adjustment and made 699whp, with a little richer AFR. We'll look at the dyno's and adjust where need be but with the race gas I'm not as concerned as I would be if it was pump only.

I think I'm the second, IMG hit 709WHP.

Congrats Drew!!! This proves the capability of the S65 Block and it don't surprise me at all!!!

To be honest I have been doubting the need to sleeve these blocks as HP was increasing. Since there is little material to work with in the S65 sleeving the block compromises it in my opinion!

Here's to Drew and Izzy for pushing the limit and showing us what the stock block can handle! R&D and good tuning, which controls detonation is much more valuable than throwing sleeves in an engine "as a precaution"
