Maintaining wheel stud finish

So after installing the TMS stud conversion kit, I noticed I scraped some of the wicked black finish of the nose of a few studs when putting wheels back on. Seems like it scuffs pretty easily. Anybody have a similar issue? I could just be really derpy when it comes to placing wheels back on.

Don't let it bother you. Happened to me too. I just brush it aside, and I'm very particular about that kind of stuff. Maintaining it would be kind of a pain...

Not sure how they would look though. They looked good on my Porsche but I had gloss black wheels and they seemed to flow. I haven't tried them on my M3 and I don't plan on it.

Thought about it but I think they'd be ugly. I was debating plasti-dipping just the face of the bolts. In the end I will probably do nothing.

You could have the studs coated with Cerakote - it's a coating that won't effect the thread thickness and is super durable. You just need to locate someone who does cerakoting and have them done. Cerakote is a coating used on firearms to protect them. You can look it up on line for more info.

Very cool.. I might look into that. I don't even necessarily need the threads coated. Just the nose. I'll check it out.

sounds expensive.

I think plasti-dipping just the noses of the stud would be a cool idea

I had a bunch of RAD lug bolts done about 2 yrs ago - was around $100 dollars for the whole set - looked like new the whole time I had them never chipped, threads worked fine.
