I've had blips occur in the higher D modes occasionally, but it doesn't do it reliably like in S4-5.
I've gotten in a bad habit of downshifting a bit um, early, just to hear the intoxicating rev matching blips. With the cutout valves open they're more like roars than blips I'm sure people around me love it.

After the update: 1) The phone screen while on active phone call was different (allowing me conference calls and using the dial pad while on the phone) when I posted that, they said it was supposed to be like that since purchase, that is not a new feature, that's why I think I didn't have the up-to-date software on purchase. 2) The other change is very noticeable improvement in cold starts. The car does not jump like a rabbit on 1st and 2nd when I drive it first thing in am 3) And finally the throttle blips on S3..It used to happen only on extreme braking but now a simple downshift from 4th to 3rd would give a blip..They are not as predictable as on S4-6 but they with no doubt happen much more frequently after the update.

The only negative is that to untrained ears and minds (most people), downshift blips just make you look like a douchey showoff. I was rounding a sharp right hander from Wilshire onto santa monica blvd and downshifted all the way to 1 on my dct and it blipped up to abuot 4.5k rpm and some doofy guy with his girl standing on the corner yelled "AWESOME!" in the most sarcastic tone you could imagine. It made me think how he and others probably think that all we are doing is revving to show off.

I also do it when there are no cars around . Didn't know that was considered showing off. And if you ever visit LA from austin, you'll know that this corner is not downtown or anywhere near it LOL
