Hey, the Audi S5's got the looks, the luxury, and the high-tech features (many of them std. or less costly to add than in the BMW 335i), but the BMW 335i's still got the edge on performance for less $$. If you're after a more refined, higher luxury look and style, go for the S5 for a few extra $$. If higher performance is a priority, stick with the BMW 335i...it's pretty simple.

Also, don't forget that for another $10k-$15k over the 335i, the E92 M3 is right there as well...which also completely blows away the S5
But the Evo got the edge on 335i on performance for less $$$ and yet you still bash Evo

Maybe b/c it's NOT a grown-up car. Seriously though, the Mistu Evo isn't exactly for everybody...it's screams "BOY RACER" and that God-awful 2 ft.-tall rear wing...please (and don't tell me that the car NEEDS it so it doesn't fly off the ground at 240mph).

btw -- I only bash the Evo for its looks (and b/c it's a Mitsu...not a big fan, sorry ), not for its performance.

I was thinking about something...one reason why BMW has kept costs down in relation to Audi is because..they dont include the following:

1) Jack
2) tool kit (lug wrench/screwdriver/center cap removal tool/gloves)
3) spare tire/wheel
4) triangular reflector warning lense
5) first aid kit

All my audis came with this stuff...

god dam it. I shuda got a S5. 335i is definately overpriced.... 50k base for a S model car was always expected, their so hot. I might just give them my $1k deposit to buy a S5. so sick.

I hadn't even thought of the Jack. I knew the 335i didn't have a spare because of using runflats, but in a way I guess it makes sense it wouldn't have a jack. Most of those I can certainly do without. The one item you should add to that list which is a huge pet peeve - NO CAR ALARM. How can you spend $40k-$50k on german car and not get a friggin' car alarm as standard?!?

You can't compare only with the 335xi because AWD is not always an advantage and since the S5 doesn't come RWD...oh well...
And most of the test will compare it the the RWD 335 because that is the 3 series benchmark, not the XI.
if your car was fully loaded (which means every options availble) it would be well over 52k. They are also talking about a 335i coupe which cost more than a 335i sedan. Fully loaded to you is not fully loaded to someone else. The difference in price is about 4k. What I would look at though is the lease numbers of both. The s5 is quicker in a straight line than a stock 335i but the handling on the 335i should be slightly better. The biggest difference is in tunig potential where the 335i is way ahead of the S5. Both are great cars so you cant go wrong either way.
