I have finished cutting and sanding the body.

I used only the curved scissors, regular scissors, and sand paper.

I still think the circle cutter would have allowed me to cut the wheel wells out more easily... next time...

So tomorrow I will attempt masking and painting the body and installing the LED lights.

Nawaaz was having the same issue with editing the initial posting in a thread (on the Southwest Forum). Suggest that you contact one of the admins. It's likely there is a systems issue or a rule that a post can't be edited after X days.

I actually ended up buying the Olfa circle cutter for future bodies.

Also, just bought some black and white Tamiya polycarbonate spray paint for the body.

I should have the body painted by Monday!

Thanks guys (and gals--Lin). Now I have another car related hobby to spend time and money on! Seriously, I had no idea this stuff was out there. What a great hobby!

And I looked at the "hop up" parts...geez if we only had that much to choose from for the full-scale M3!

My birthday is coming up and my wife is buying me, as she puts it, "another M3". At least the mod bug isn't quite as costly with this.

I got my kit today, Ive done quite a bit for 1 day but I just stopped because I cant figure out something.

For the plastic body mounts that stick out of the body...for the rear set...which one did you use?
b2 or b5?

For my kit I used B5. They supply 2 different sizes just in case you want to run a different body with the holes pushed further back. B5 should work with the body supplied.

I checked with my CLK body and that one fit with B5 as well.

Thanks for the tip, I'm new to all this. What is the exact purpose of these? Is it to hold the body in place? They're kinda ugly to have, what would happen If u didn't use them?

Yes, they're to hold the body one. Bodies come in different sizes which is why you have the different posts. Some bodies are also a lot taller so they need spacers so they won't drag on the ground. If you didn't have the clips holding them on most bodies would fly off at speed.

Hey guys, ran into a bit of a confusion, Im hoping rsmamg can help, or anyone else for that matter.

Step 19, it says on the side in grey. to use B16 and MB3 (screw) to attach dampers for short wheelbase chassis

Is this a short wheelbase chassis? Where does it say which chassis it is?

one other question for those who have done it, im installing the rear damper
and I have screwed it in all the way, and its still a little loose, is this normal?
(by the way, this is the top screw on the rear damper (driver side)

here is a pic of how loose it is

(I put the small red line to show exactly how loose it is)

I am also a little unclear as to what it means exactly when they refer to long vs short wheel chassis.

I have used the MB2 screws and there is a little give, like what you have pictured (1 or 1.5 mm). It is normal. The part B16 is to be used with a different type of rear arm assembly, im assuming.

In step 7, when we are putting the rear arms on, parts B4 and B14, it says that those pieces are short wheelbase parts, but then using the MB3 screw and part B16 to attach the dampers (short wheelbase chassis parts) would not fit correctly.

So just use MB2 screws and no B16.

okay, thanks man. I took a 2 hour break to wait for an answer to my question, now I can get back to work

This is so addicting, I cant stop working on it. My girlfriend is beginning to hate me

I think I have done quite a bit so far (for 2 days). I will def have more questions as I go along.

Is it true you paint the inside of the body and not the outside? a friend of mine told me that, but Im far from painting.

Yes mine has that little gap too. It is normal. I checked my older TT-01 and it has the same gap with no issues during driving.

And yes you paint the body from the inside. I am about to start painting today while its still light outside. I am a little nervous though because I keep double checking to make sure im done with cutting and sanding. Its my second body so im still relatively new. Ill see how it goes and post pictures.

Feel free to keep the questions coming!

Just curious if you know as to why you paint from the inside? is it avoid damaging the paint when you hit stuff?

Also, I see you bought the black paint too, I only bought the white.
whats the black for?

Happy Birthday to come! we are going on the ultimatehobbies site to order the car today, is that where most of you got it? I'm not sure how much actual work I'll be allowed to do, maybe just the body work. I have a feeling my husband will be taking this over, he's excited about this! Will keep checking this site for more information on everyone's build.
