PCD Break-in Help!

So what do you guys think of break-in after PCD?

While I am glad I'll put ~1,100 miles (of the 1,200 required) on day 1 and 2, I am concerned that the highway-driving is not the proper way to break-in the engine.

I searched this topic and found that some members don't care about highway driving during break-in, while others say to avoid it at all costs. The standard deviation here is too high for an educated guess.

Any suggestions regarding this? Maybe someone with good engine knowledge can chime in? Or input from former PCD'ers?

.... I truly appreciate!

Cheers!!

I'll be doing the same thing. Give yourself an extra day and take the opportunity to run some back roads on the way home. Better yet, Tail of the Dragon is just a couple of hours away. You'll get some variation so you're not just running highway miles and get to drive one of the better roads in the country while you're at it.

Maybe I'll add the day. Since I want to keep this car for a long time, what is a day's cost for a proper break-in? I am also thinking of doing the TotD and head northeast via Blue Ridge Parkway.

Yep, that's the plan. Take delivery on Friday and have 1,200 mile service done on Monday.

BRP is a great road. Sections of it are closed right now for construction, FYI, so be careful where you pick it up. Enjoy your drive back!

I'm taking delivery this week. Couldn't be more excited!

Maybe you're right and I am over-thinking. But it's great to over-think about this...

Awesome, I only wish mine was this coming Friday. My Friday is March 22nd, I should have been clearer on that, which leads me to mdosu above, maybe I am thinking too much about this.

Congrats on your car.

My car had less than a mile on it when I took delivery. And proceeded to drift it out of the dealer parking lot and then hooked up the VBox and did some 0-60's...bouncing off the fuel cut off a couple times. Then with 100 miles on it took it to EAS and dyno'd at 365 RWHP which at that time was a record for a stock M3. @ 900 miles I put a supercharger on it. @ 1,500 miles beat the snot out of it at an Airstrip event. @ 1,900 miles beat the snot out of it at a track event, including a 20 minute drift session at the balcony at Big Willow. @ 2,300 miles beat the snot out of it at another track event. @ 2,800 miles beat the snot out of it at yet another track event. Never one issue and I now have 6,000 miles and not even one hiccup.

Enjoy your car and don't worry about the break-in.

most importantly, make sure you get your 6MT fluid changed at the same time.

Wow, you have 6,000 miles, but these are like "dog-miles". Your 6,000 dog miles are equal to 42,000 regular miles.
j/k I know these cars are meant to be driven, and driven hard. It's just that I want to keep this one for a long time and thought a proper break-in would help with that. Apparently not a factor!!

This car is way too fun to drive it mellow. Today I'm extending the redline/fuel cut-off to 8,600 with an even more aggressive tune. Not only did I say goodbye to my factory warranty, my ESS "warranty" is gone as well
