Does the heat sink stay in under the cap in which the wiring is for the headlight?? Wouldn't it melt the other wires??

lux8 v3's heat sinks stay under the cover, inside the headlight housing...

IIRC: Aib's are stored externally, outside of the headlight housing...

My LUX will be here next week, I'm excited! I've done the HID bulbs in the past, but they yellowed my rings.

Glad I came back to this thread I started. Good info. The LUX LEDs look good. But is the other solution LED? Why would you need a ballast to run LEDs? That's why I thought they were HID. HIDs yellowing rings? I believe it. Has anyone simply checked out the bulbs in the new non-M3 cars? What is the OEM solution and can it be added to the M3? This is becoming an interesting thread.

The LCI halos cannot be retrofitted into an M3 or any other pre-LCI headlamp.

ALL LED's need special electrical requirements, so that small black box of the LUX h8 v3 is the LED controller. It is required to make LED's work correctly

AIB DriverPacks are stored within the headlamp.

Here's a good picture for your reference. They are brighter than OEM but it's hard to distinguish in daylight.

That's correct, there are no pieces of the kit that remain outside the headlamp assembly.

no the lux's are not brighter/as bright as the OEM newer LED ae's...but they are far better than the stock yellow halogen OEM bubs IMO...

if you want brighter or as bright as the newer led oem ae's you have to go with oss or ls3, but then you'll have to open up your headlights to get those installed...

take some time to search, especially e90posts and you will find pics...specifically in the lux vendor thread of e90posts....

well, I just pulled mine out today as I'm getting ready to return my lease tomorrow. Yesterday I got a bulb error, but didn't worry about it since I knew it was going back tomorrow to dealership. I opened the hood today to reinstall my stock H8s and noticed a strong burnt smell. Here's what I found.

If the LightSource is not working and found to be a warranty issue, it will be replaced at no cost within the warranty period. AIB units have a 3-year warranty, you would likely be covered.

If you have any further questions on the AIB units, please email us directly.

Well, I appreciate that. However I didn't notice the light to be out. (might have been at an intermittent stage, bulb error was just on a couple times then off). But this looks a little dangerous to me, had it melted and started a fire I'd be in a bit more trouble. At this point I'm a little concerned about putting these in a brand new car when I get it later this week.
