Winter Rims & Tires

Hey everyone, need some help choosing whether i should purchase 18" Rims and tires for my e92 m3 coupe or just getting 19" tires for my current stock rims. Tire rack only has 1 rims option for the 18" rims package and i don't like them so anyone know somewhere else i can get winter rims/tires from?

Also my car is canadian, will i need to buy TPMS?

Thanks and sorry if this is a repost, if someone knows a thread open about this already, just post it and ill refer to that.

I bought the Tire Rack 18 inch package. Sure the wheels they include are not the most beautiful, but who cares when they're usually covered with salt and sand. Besides, the seven spoke design is a heck of a lot easier to clean than the ZCP wheels!

You can usually find the OEM 18" wheels in the used section for a decent price.

call Ben @ Tirerack, I just picked up some TR Motorsports, MT1 18" wheels + winter tires. Its not listed under the M3 section, but they fit with spacers, which they have, Although I want to get some bigger spacers for the rear.

Yes, the A7 is what we usually use for winter, but we will do any 18" wheel that fits if you would like. The A7 is a nice price and fits with no extra hardware needed, but anything that fits is fair game.

For our esteemed colleagues of the frozen north, check your OEM valve stem. If the valve stem is metal, you need sensors in the wheels or you'll get the error light. If you have rubber valve stems you do not need the sensor. Most do not in Canada.

I wanted to get these rims:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-Silver-Wh...ht_2483wt_1144

But i'm not sure which tires tire rack offers that can fit them. I wanted the staggered look also but the seller told me I'll need spacers! Is this true?

Also my car does not use TPMS, i checked and its plastic not metal!

$1,246 for tires seems silly, when you can get 18s w/tires for approx. $1400. With the first snowfall happening today, I am leaning towards hitting you up for the 18" wheel/tire package. PM me the pricing again for the 18s with the best tires to 21158. Thanks Ben!

Yes. Stock 19" sizes are 245/35 and 265/35. Narrower fit (recommended for winter) would be 235/35 and 255/35. More aggressive fitment would be 255/35 and 275/35.

Sounds like you'd benefit from a bit of time reading around the forums. That's how many of us gained CRAZY amounts of knowledge about our cars.

Oh yeah, I'd suggest staying away from the cheap stuff you find on ebay!!! We're talking about your $80k+ car!!!

I'm using Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme in 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. They fit fine on the stock 19 inch stock rims. You could try searching on google's shopping section for them.

There is a stock 18" winter wheel and tyre package from bmw for the m3. Maybe this is what your garage was meaning?

I was really hesitant about looking on ebay but these seemed okay. I had replica rims on my winter set for my e92 335i before this m3 and they were okay. You guys think the ones on the ebay link above aren't any good?

I did a search and found a few suppliers. Do you have a website where you got them from? Thanks

Thanks for the info - i know about the 18 inch OEM winter tyre set up but had no luck in finding a garage that could supply 19s that fit the OEM wheels - now i have the name and size of the tyre i might have a better chance of getting an order through

Personally, I'd stay away from reps. Like someone's already stated you are putting these wheels on a $70k+ car so use a quality aftermarket wheel or pickup a set of used OEM wheels in the "for sale" section.

Decided to use my other car this winter when the roads are bad - didn't have winter tyres last year and for 80% of the winter months the roads were clear.

Anybody know of protectants that can be applied to rims pre-winter season to keep it safe from salt? Thats besides rinsing them every couple days...
