Evolve Supercharged M3 v. ESS Supercharged M3 [shameless plug]

Well its happening and it'll be recorded for everyone, let's call it battle of the superchargers.

In this corner we have Evolve's newly developed kit that looks as good as it performs. In the other corner we have ESS's time tested, proven performance kit. Who will take home the title after a full day of roll-on and drag racing?

Check out our event hosted with the support of BimmerPost on July 12, 2013 at Atco Raceway in southern NJ. The event is open to both spectators and drivers, but everyone must register. For more details see our event thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=851360

Um...which ESS kit and which Evolve kit?

They need to be equal kits for it actually to be a legitimate matchup, i.e. you can't run a non-intercooled against and intercooled kit, or one making 6psi vs another making 8psi.

Also what are the specifics of the exhaust systems? Is one running water/meth and the other one not? Is one car gutted and with drag radials?

See where I'm going with this....

pretty sure they're not that silly to run ESS 550 vs. a FMIC evolve kit. People aren't that thick.

Exactly. It was LostMarine's ESS 535 non-intercooled kit wheel against Akash's AA intercooled/meth 8-8.5psi kit. lol

Don't shoot the messenger, and to clarify I was just having some fun. In no way was this meant to call out any individuals or manufactures. The Evolve kit is new and I think everyone is excited to see what it brings to the table against a very diverse line up of cars both tuned and stock.

The ESS car that signed up did not disclose details, but he is on this forum. I'll let him answer the question at his discretion.

It seems that the Evolve and ESS kits are equally matched, it'll be interesting to see the results.

Some racers & spectators will be getting together for a few drinks at Miller Ale House in Mt. Laurel, NJ Thursday night (July 11) @ 8PM. Feel free to join us as we start the "trash" talking for Friday's event over a few drinks.

Cool look forward to seeing what happened. If it's anything like Shift-S3ctor, the all wheel drive cars owned.

Very good point.

Our delivered and running kits are all using the Rotrex 8-Rib 95mm Pulley.

This, with the intercooler, equates to an average of 6.3 PSi.

Under warmer conditions you will see closer to 6 PSi, under very very cold conditions with high barometric pressure you will see as high as 6.7 PSi.

We do one kit which is below this using the 100mm pulley for those that want no more than 5 PSi intercooled. Super consistent and runs extremely low temperatures all day long.

.....and then there is the really big monster kits which use the 85mm and 90mm pulleys. These kits are INSTANTLY noticeable with their zero traction in 2nd and 3rd gear due to their very strong instant torque delivery.

Again, exhaust options? Passengers? Also, shouldn't a 6-6.5 psi evolve kit (6.3-6.7 psi according to Sal) be placed against the ess 625 rather than the now (kinda) dated 600? And who won? Tough to really see from the camera angle.

Just a thought.

We have a few 600's which have been dyno tested in the UK and all have made in excess of 6 PSi.

The car in the video was dyno tested the night before and made 6.2 PSi.

The match is very equal.

Remember, 6.7 PSi is ONLY going to be achieved under favourable conditions and in those conditions all other supercharger kits will make slightly more boost too.
