Lime Rock Park Noise Restriction
Has anyone ran at Lime Rock with a catless X pipe? I'm worried that my exhaust will be too loud for the track.

They are very strict. I believe it's limited to 88db. The last event I was at there was a guy running an akra evo full setup and he was ok, but that is catted. Does your x pipe have resonators?
Are you going for the BMW events this weekend? If so, I'll be there both days with my M3. |

My x pipe has 2 resonators.'y exhaust is valved gintani race but it's still pretty loud with the valves closed. I'm going to have to test it. I'd hate to go up there and be kicked out after 1/2 a run.
I signed up for Friday with the BMW CCA Connecticut Valley Chapter |

If you dont want to change your exhaust and it's too loud, look into getting some turn downs and stuff them with steel wool or brillo pad. That's what my buddy had to do when he was over the decibel limit and we were already there. Kiss your sexy exhaust tips goodbye though.

I bought a decibel meter and stood about 45' away directly behind the car while I had someone bring it to 7,500 rpm. I got anywhere from 88 - 92db. This is with the car parked and valves closed. I'm not sure how the exhaust note would change under load. What do people think?

There's a Blipshift competition for a Lime Rock specific t-shirt.
I was thinking about "Lime Rock Park: Pissing Off the Neighbors Since 1957" or "One Left Turn Deserves Another!" Thoughts? Any chance of winning?

I'd still like to do something to quiet my exhaust a bit for the future just in case |

I spoke to someone else there who said he was running a catless xpipe with the MPE. He's an advanced driver too so it means a bit more.
I tried to ask as many people as I could. Another person said that sometimes it's not only the volume of the sound but the tone. Certain exhausts make the meter spike more than others. Also on humid or foggy days an exhaust can sound louder. Not sure how true any of it is. |
