m3 e92 and the new 5 series v8

Not sure if its been discussed
but someone i ran into said the engine is the same for the e92M3 and the new 550i. i said aside from them both being a V8, the similarities end there.
any techs on here who could answer this?

interestingly, the N63 is related to the S63 M5 engine...

Maybe there was some confusion in your conversation. I think there is some similarity between the N63 in the 550 and the S63 in the new M5.
