Ready for Delivery... 2011 Individual Interior M3 (Updated - no 56k))

Sunday or Monday I'm taking delivery on an individual 2011 e92 M3 DCT, ZCP, Alpine White with all options except rear sunshade. It's a special order with Platinum leather interior and Piano Black trim. I like the classy look on the inside and aggressive on the outside. Not too much though - just a cleaned up version of OEM.

I've got a bunch of mods ready to go and some interesting things planned. Will post pics before and after install. To kick it off, I'm heading to EAS this week to get the following installed (pics below):

- Dinan Pulley
- Macht Schnell Air Filter
- Agency Power Intake Elbow
- RPI Air Scoops
- OEM Keyhole Cover
- Angel iBright LED's
- Macht Schnell 10mm Spacers
- Yokohama Advan AD-08's 255/295
- Euro Visors
- OEM Reflector Covers
- OEM Performance E-Brake
- Coding out Seatbelt Chime

Coming Soon
- Powerchip Tune
- Cool Carbon Brake pads and Castrol SRF (some track time on the way)
- Front PDC Retrofit - This one was pricey, but I worked it out. Will be getting it installed in about two weeks. You can see the painted sensors in the pics. There's been a few threads on this but I don't think anyone else has actually done it.

On the fence, but considering these...
- Alcantara Headliner
- Dinan 3.45 Differential
- Escort 9500ci
- Turner test pipes (like the OEM sound with a bump in performance)
- STM Tint
- Zwickenpflug Leather Dash

I learned a lot from everyone on the forum - thanks for the help. Putting this together should be fun!

Weird question, How much did you pay for that keyhole cover and where did you get it? I spent what I think was a ridiculous amount of money on a bumperplug keyhole plug, and it didn't fit right.

I got it prepainted from Savage BMW parts dept - I have a friend who works there and we worked a trade. I think it was normally about $75 painted.

Oh wow. Looking forward to this! Is this the first U.S E9X on the forum with individual interior?

Yes, EAS is doing the coding and the first run of installation work on Wednesday, but not the PDC install yet. That'll be about two more weeks. Here's what the PDC deal looks like:

- Euro front bumper with PDC: Bought this from a bumper dealer on the UK, Bumpers, LTD. It only cost about $250. It was Space Gray and I need to get it painted AW. They agreed to clean it up and primer it for me. Found it on ebay.co.uk. This was the easy part... Shipping was the problem. They packed it up well for me and had it picked up and shipped over via LCL freight for $450. Painted Euro bumpers go for MUCH more than this, so this was a steal. Total $700.
- PDC Sensors: They're all over ebay.co.uk. Hard to find unpainted, but i found a set of 4, unpainted for $75 from someone in Spain. Insane. They normally cost about $200 each. It cost me $100 to have a shop paint them. Only BMW is supposed to paint these things, but the shop assured me they have a ton of them before with good results. The clear coat has to be done right so it doesn't screw up the sensitivity. Total $175.
- Front PDC Retrofit kit: This has all the necessary installation goodies including the wire harness. Got this from Roveractive for about $125. Along with the sensors and the bumper, you can't get these from US dealers without a Euro VIN, which of course, we don't have. This works BTW, because my car already has Rear PDC and the control unit etc... Without it there would be more parts to buy. Total $125.
- Dash button: My car won't have any dash buttons because I didn't get rear sunshade. The part costs $225 and the plastic surround is $25. I was able to get these from a US dealer (Savage BMW). Total: $250.
- Installation and coding: We'll see. Estimating about $350.

Total: Looks like it'll end up around $1600. Which is fine. I was quoted about $2700 for getting a brand new pre-painted Euro front bumper. Heck, just getting a professionally done covering of the reflector holes will probably run $500. I wanted the Euro front bumper anyway, so the rest of the PDC was almost a throw in.

Jesal - I think this might be the first Individual interior M3... Don't think I've seen any so far. Mark M has one on the way too. Looking forward to seeing his with Rust Brown. He did it right.

That's a good deal. Good luck with the retrofit!

Congrats.

Don't look for too much gains from the AP intake elbow and RPI scoops. Most of your gains from the intake will come from the filter and pulley. The tune will give you more. I would have saved the money on the elbow and scoops to put toward an exhaust.

I didn't know you could code out the seatbelt chime. Cool.

Is it really possible to get the Zwickenpflug Leather Dash? If you have a contact I'd appreciate it if you could post details or PM me. Thanks.

And don't be on the fence with the radar/laser detector. Just do it.

Can't wait to see pics. Especially the interior.

Cheers.

Kev - Thanks. Like you, I really wanted to do the Euro seat bottoms but with an individual interior, I don't think I'll be able to get the covers. The US bottoms are a huge pet peeve. You did a nice job on that.

Ersin - I hear you. I'm not sure about the exhaust. I really like the OEM sound and don't want to mess with it. That's why I was thinking about the Turner test pipes which delete the primary cats and leave the rest. Yeah, the detector is a must. I won't do it unless I can do it right and $2500 is pricey. I'll just end up swallowing it I guess.

I think If I add the Alcantara headliner and Zwick dash to the individual interior the interior will be comparable to an M5 / M6 interior, albeit for a bump price. Zwick made that really nice but slightly over-leathered interior on their M3. There was some nice elements there. I haven't called them yet, but I'm sure it's like anything else - for a price they'll make it.

Euro seat bottoms would be cool. Kev went through more trouble than I would put up with but I respect that.

I understand what you mean about the exhaust music. But, once you start driving it, you'll wish it were louder. Most (all?) who have aftermarket exhausts or even just mufflers back, love the sound. Louder and just as nice, if not better, than stock.

A V1 with an LI jammer is probably a better way (performance-wise) to go than the 9500 and cheaper too. It's just not quite as stealthy with the V1 hanging in the windshield. I'm almost finished with wiring up the V1 and an LE-30 jammer in my M3. It will be unique. Hopefully I'll be able to put up pics soon. But it will be a clean and fairly stealthly install.

You could probably find someone around LA to wrap the dash in leather and/or alcantara if you don't go with the whole Zwick package.

Congrats with the new M3 and good luck with the mods.

Cheers.

Look like we've got a LOT of work to do. I'm certainly up for the challenge.

Let me know when you have possession of the new M3, can't wait to see it in person.

Can't wait to see the interior of your car.

I applaud your efforts to get front PDC. I looked into it about 6 mo ago and got nowhere. Instead I went with a front and rear camera to complement the rear PDC. It's cheaper unless you are doing the Euro bumper as you were going to do anyways.

As Tom knows, I am looking to do the dash in alcantara here in LA as well. I am thinking about putting it where the extended leather would have been.

How would upper dashboard look-like when covered with well-known 3M leather folyo??
