!8" VMR 710 with Kuhmo Ecsta XS 275/35/18 all around.

Finally got these wheels on. This is my way of easing into more track oriented tires. The wheels are not extremely light, they weigh 24#. But they are inexpensive and I do not want to run a lot of spacers.I had the tires mounted at Group II Motorsports. I love the guys at this shop. Noah, who did the work, was my instructor at two Alfa track days. I've driven with a number of instructors and this guy is an amazing driver. We went out in my car after the installation and his remark was "unlimited front grip." Absolutely no rubbing. The offset on these 9.5" wheels is 22. Planning to get these tires broken in soon because I am going to a PCA track event June 10th.

Not feeling 18's with these wheels. I prefer TE-37's in 18's on the m3. You should've gone 275/40/18 in the rear IMO. The OEM 18's are good cheap track wheels

I am on a list for TE37s. I wanted wheels for now. Why would I put different size tires on the rear when the goal is a square setup? How cheap are the rear stock 18" wheels? I bet they are close to double what I paid. This setup is for driving on the track, not aesthetics. And no 18" wheel is going to look very good on this car unless/until the car is lowered.

I'm thinking of going with the same eas rim in a staggered 19" mainly because they are made to fit BMW's without spacers. How are the quality of these rims?

Would 275/40-18 fits better?

I thought 275/35-18 has a closer diameter ratio to 265/40-18 than 275/40. Also, 4x rear OEM 18" would cost more than double VMR.. They are good but I don't know about cheap.

As far as traction is concern, I have been using NT01 275/35-18 for the past 4 track days..stick like glue. You would have fun with Kuhmo as well. I think it break traction more progressive than R-Comp.

Have fun at the track and be safe

The wheels seem to be fairly high quality, look good, and are easy to clean. I think they would look great in a staggered 19", particularly if the car is lowered.

loving the wheels and the square set up....dawgdog!

Glad you like them.

as for tire sizing: 275/35-18 is a little more easy to find (track radials) than 275/40-18 IMO.
We are putting the NT-01 on a set and should stick like Glue!

Thanks Julius. I really appreciated all the time you spent with me on the purchase of these wheels. These Kuomos, though not an R rated tire, are pretty damn stickly. Can't wait till next week when I get them on the track. Just driving around in the city I prefer the 18" with the Kuhmos to my stock 19s with PS2s. I like the look of the stock wheels better, though.

I also run a square setup with 10" rims and 275/35/18 tires for track time.

They fit without rubbing, but the shorter height in the back increases the speedo error from bad to worse.

On the track I saw an indicated 150 which was actually only 140.

This will make it seem like I am making progress even if I'm not.

Congrats on the wheels. I think they look great on your car. Can't wait to see them in person.

My tires arrived at Group 2 yesterday. D-Force Wheels are arriving tomorrow. Tires will be mounted by Group 2 on Thursday or Friday. Can't wait.

BTW, any issue with the TPMS?

No issues with TPMS once I reset it in i-drive. I actually like driving around town on these 18" wheels. And the tires really grip the road. Looking forward to next week with PCA. What time on Thurs? Maybe I'll drop by as I will be off work.

not feeling the tires, I find kuhmo tires to be too cheap as far as quality goes. I've never used them on the track but I would like to hear how you feel about them them.

I picked them based on a comparison test in Grassroots Motorspots. They were rated higher than the Bridgestone R11 (?), Falken Azenis 615, and others; top rated in the class. I noticed last time at the track that the Lamborgini Gallardo was running Kuhmo. I asked the owner about it and he said he loves them, and in this case I guarantee you cost was not an issue. But since I am new to this hobby with 7 track days to date I probably will not be a very informed judge of their quality.

Good to hear about TPMS.

I am dropping off the wheels tomorrow morning to have the tires mounted. Will pick them up tomorrow afternoon probably between 4:30 and 5:00 pm. The wheels won't be on my car though, I am just picking them up. I will probably put them on over the weekend to test the fit and drive around a bit.

If you'd like to check them out, we could meet up at Group 2 around that time.

Saw your wheels and tires yesterday when I dropped by Group II to get my wheels rebalanced. Look really nice. I came close to buying those wheels myself.
