What did they tag you with? Radar or Laser?

You should have a V1 and LI Jammer. Thanks for the heads up!

it was laser, they are on foot and pop out at the last second to get you and then they just waive you over to pull over. The problem I have with this spot is its a 4 lane 30 mph, it should be 40 or at least 35, but they will get you for 40 in a 30, like me

I have one on my DD and yes, it does work. However, they are technically illegal to operate in Texas as of this year but we can talk about that off line if you are concerned.

There is a group of guys that get together a couple of times per year to test these jammers and the installations using official police lidar guns that are used locally. Pretty cool stuff and mine has saved me several tickets since I bought it back in 09.

The only possible down side for you is that the heads have to be aligned pretty exactly for this to work. You can do this during the the install and then fine tune it during testing but if you hit a curb or run off the track hard it could bump the heads out of alignment.

Could, not will.. Just FYI.

Take that big red square and apply to all of Pearland! I got my first speeding ticket in almost 12 years and I was barely over the limit! I was tagged at 55 on a 45 but the cop did not have radar or a laser. A cop on a bike claimed he could tell I was speeding by how fast I passed the light posts - WTF!. When he pulled me over he actually asked me where my "racing license" was. I almost answered, "I'm working on it!". My lawyer says it's not worth fighting and I should just pay the court fees and take deferred adjudication as the muni court in Pearland will take the cops word over mine. Yet another reason to move back into Houston...

Sorry, rant over. I'm not bitter

I live in Pearland as well, I'm guessing you're talking about 518...hate that road. I haven't seen your car around town, hope to see it soon.

what kind of cost are we talking about installed? Also is it a criminal offense if you get caught with it or just another ticket?

The jammer is just whatever price they have listed and I'm not sure about installation. You need to find someone that has experience installing jammers though because I've seen some pretty bad installations that aren't going to work no matter how good the jammer is. You only need the standard dual head version to be protected with an M3.

Here is what the law says about it
http://www.guysoflidar.com/texas-laser-jammer-laws.html

People are still using them and I'm not too concerned about it. LI is a very well engineered jammer and doesn't throw jam codes on the lidar gun. When you are being lasered and the alarm is going off you just need to lower your speed and shut the jammer off. Then the LEO gets a read and moves on to the next guy. If you drive by with the jammer on flippin him/her the bird then you just might have a problem.

I'm not trying to sell you or anyone else on the idea. I got an ugly construction zone workers present radar ticket (no workers were actually present, stupid cop) and it cost me about 300 bucks to get rid of. After that I bought the V1 and went several years without getting a ticket. Then I got two laser tickets in 2 months so I bought the jammer and knock on wood but I haven't had any tickets since.

There is plenty of info about this on radar dectors dot net and youtube so check it out

I was pulled over at 518 near Kirby. There are a ton of cops all over 518 from 288 to Alameda and I'm very careful with my speed because of this. I was caught completely off guard as my radar detector did not go off and I had no idea how fast I was driving.

On 288 the cops will double team on radar duty with 1/2 mile between each trap. My radar *always* goes off when this happens. On 288 @ 518 a cop will sit in the center lane with a radar gun, too.

Anyway, I've hired a lawyer and I've pleaded not guilty for the ticket so we'll see what happens.

Hank - I have the Laser Interceptor installed on my car. The heads need readjusting, but you can check out the setup if you're interested.

Thumbs up I hate the new Texas Law

Hey since you guys are talking about Laser Jammers and the New Texas law on them. I had the Laser Interceptor installed on my M3. I just took it off because of the new Texas Law. The Laser Interceptor has to sit out in the open don't get me wrong this thing saved me plenty of times . I switched to the Blinder Laser Jammer so I could hide it behind the front grills of my M3 and its not sitting out in the open . I had the Blinder installed about a week ago when I was in SoCal. I have the Valentine 1 radar detector as well along with a laser shield on my front and rear license plate. I will post pics so you guys can see the difference. The first will be when I had the Laser Interceptor and the second will be the current pic with the blinder installed behind the grills . I refuse to sit back and let the cops cheat, making just having a radar detector useless at times. Sorry but I play to win at any cost. F#*K the new law
