starting the car keyless?

With my 1er and CA, keyless entry/ engine start works perfectly fine. However with my M, keyless entry works but my engine wont start...heres what I'm doing

1) unlock the door through the door handle
2) get in
3) depress the brake
4) press start button

but that doesnt work for me? any tips?

Try pressing the brake harder.

Would it make a difference if I tried with the E-brake down? . My 1er is an auto so I never bothered touching the thing...

If you have a 6MT press the clutch as well.

Well thats second nature for me (admittedly a little embarrassing when I take the 1er out and I start the car kicking the floorboard trying to find the clutch. my gf just gives me the "are you insane" look)

Well my handles have the grooves so I'm pretty sure I have CA but this is driving me nuts I tried pressing the brakes real hard but I think that lock mechanism just kicks in. The brakes get stiff to the point where I cant press down anymore..

Something is wrong, you don't need to depress the brake pedal very hard, and you definitely don't need to release the parking brake before you try starting the car. I'd take it in.

Just because your door handles have the ridges does not mean you have keyless start.

Does the car lock and unlock with just the door handle?

Yes it does.

I ended up looking around for my build sheet, and it does have comfort access included with the tech pack, but it only says 'comfort access keyless entry'...bummer

There aren't 2 levels of CA, if your car unlocks with just a touch of the door handle, it should start keylessley as well. Take your car in.

If you have a 6MT, then the brake pedal is completely irrelevant. You don't need to touch it at all to start the car. All you have to do is push the clutch to the floor and touch the button.

Let me ask you this: if instead of trying it keyless, you insert the key in the ignition, and only push in the clutch (don't touch the brakes) does it start up? It certainly should. If you are finding you need to use the brake, there's definitely something wacky with your car.

I have Keyless entry, I grab the handle and the door opens, press the break peddle and start button and away she goes, you must have a problem somewhere, check the "Fault codes" in BMW services on Idrive.

With 6MT you only have to press the clutch.
