Have been thinking about selling my 2008 BMW M3. Recently had the engine rebuilt and rod bearings replaced. Was curious to see what I can get for her.

Anything above 100k is tough to cross $20k range if in perfect condition even with records.
Rebuilt brings value down further, not clear as to why. Accidents? What kind of rod bearings? BE +$1500 to price VAC +$500 to price Others including WPC or OEM -$1000 Parting out the mods is better return/easier to sell. Also, in terms of resale value: ZCPs > E90 MT > E90 DCT = E92 MT > E92 DCT > E93

Agreed, forget KBB but I'm thinking 20-24.

yea, that's way low. you'd get closer to 30+ w/ such low mileage. But I get the comparison.

I've still only seen one local listing for an E90/E92 M3 with clean title under $20K, and it had 140K miles. I'd want more info on the engine rebuild, but I'd say low 20's.
edit: make that 2. there's one listed in Sacramento looks like a potentially decent deal. |

Based on everything you've mentioned about the car so far, I think $18-21 w/o mods is the ballpark. The accident will take a hit (even if minor) and so will the rebuilt engine (counter-intuitive, but such is the market). There is definitely a psychological impact to being over 100k miles. I know that logically, it doesn't make sense and these cars are proving to be reliable for the most part. But even recently when I was looking for my E90, I almost automatically ruled out cars over 100k for no good reason at all other than "it's rolled the odometer".
As others have mentioned, you'll make more taking the mods off and selling separately. Surprisingly, most seem to hold a decent residual. If you decide to sell, GLWS. Post it here on the forum as cars posted in this community seem to demand a 5-10% premium IMHO. |

No way for a 2008 with 100k. If it was several years newer with half the mileage...maybe.
Low 20s. Pull the mods and sell them -- easy few thousand in your pocket right there. Don't bother spending the money on the coating if you're going to sell it.

I promise there are many others who are in the same boat as me and as a result would drop the value simply by removing ourselves from that market.
