Price Check

Have been thinking about selling my 2008 BMW M3. Recently had the engine rebuilt and rod bearings replaced. Was curious to see what I can get for her.

- 2 owner
-103k (rebuilt engine at 97k)
- New brake pads < 1,000 miles ago
-Jerez / Bamboo
-Forgestar F14
- Remus race catback
-Getting ready to do ceramic coating soon.

Thanks!

DCT vs MT? Coupe vs sedan? Accidents? Packages? Number of trunk hookers and/monkeys?

Anything above 100k is tough to cross $20k range if in perfect condition even with records.

Rebuilt brings value down further, not clear as to why.

Accidents?

What kind of rod bearings?
BE +$1500 to price
VAC +$500 to price
Others including WPC or OEM -$1000

Parting out the mods is better return/easier to sell.

Also, in terms of resale value: ZCPs > E90 MT > E90 DCT = E92 MT > E92 DCT > E93

Straight KBB says $15k, add maybe $2-3k to that for a price you could legit sell it for.

Take the extras off and sell them separately to make some extra on the back end.

I got a trade in quote from Carmax last week of only $26k for a 2012 e92 DCT comp package with every option but sunroof even custom order paint & leather with only 42k miles and a perfect history.

yea, that's way low. you'd get closer to 30+ w/ such low mileage. But I get the comparison.

you didn't mention overall condition, but assuming good with service records; $18-19k.

I've still only seen one local listing for an E90/E92 M3 with clean title under $20K, and it had 140K miles. I'd want more info on the engine rebuild, but I'd say low 20's.

edit: make that 2. there's one listed in Sacramento looks like a potentially decent deal.

Carmax has very little vision when it comes to real sports cars. There is a nice market for your car.

Coated OEM bearings. And 1 accident, minor front end damage (under 3k with parts and labor). The Engine was rebuilt, not the title.

Based on everything you've mentioned about the car so far, I think $18-21 w/o mods is the ballpark. The accident will take a hit (even if minor) and so will the rebuilt engine (counter-intuitive, but such is the market). There is definitely a psychological impact to being over 100k miles. I know that logically, it doesn't make sense and these cars are proving to be reliable for the most part. But even recently when I was looking for my E90, I almost automatically ruled out cars over 100k for no good reason at all other than "it's rolled the odometer".

As others have mentioned, you'll make more taking the mods off and selling separately. Surprisingly, most seem to hold a decent residual. If you decide to sell, GLWS. Post it here on the forum as cars posted in this community seem to demand a 5-10% premium IMHO.

No way for a 2008 with 100k. If it was several years newer with half the mileage...maybe.

Low 20s. Pull the mods and sell them -- easy few thousand in your pocket right there. Don't bother spending the money on the coating if you're going to sell it.

why is BE + 1500 and VAC + 500? they essentially are the same bearings lol

A small front-end collision is not going to substantially drop the value of the car, IMO. The older a car gets, the higher the chances it will be in an accident and/or need some light paintwork.

Granted, but there are a ton of 2009's sitting around not selling. I do not see this one jumping over them. Time will tell.

Personally would never even entertain buying a car with any accident history.

I promise there are many others who are in the same boat as me and as a result would drop the value simply by removing ourselves from that market.
