I kept watching it on Autotrader, it moved again out of town and it dropped to $42,995 and I said to myself if that thing hits $40,000, I'll have to do something. Then, it came back to the same Chevrolet lot and was $38,995. Crap.

I inched them down to $38,700 with 1.99% financing for 48 mos and a 12mo/12,000mi bumper to bumper warranty through the dealership.
Wow, it does look like you struck an incredible deal, especially with the low rate and warranty on top of that. I'm surprised no one picked it up in that time period and it had to be discounted from 50K to 39K before it was sold. If it was me, I'd be a bit skeptical and worried there was something wrong with the car and why it moved around so much if it was indeed a very clean example.

Looks like you'll be ahead of the depreciation curve for a few years. Damn, I'm kind of jealous lol.

E92 prices...can't really add much to the other comments except to say my '09 M3 (83k miles) is PRICELESS! hahaha

Bought it used in 2011, and been my daily driver ever since. Truly love this car! It's a keeper!

If you want a solid investment, buy stocks or real estate. Cars in general are a lousy investment, and unless you are talking about a rare car whose brand ends in an "i", it is anybody's guess what it will be worth in 5 years, 10 years, or 50 years. The M3 was meant to be driven rather than stored in a garage like some irreplaceable artifact. Drive it and enjoy it rather than maintaining a garage queen. You may see an extra few thousand by keeping the mileage low, but what is the point of buying a car that you are afraid to drive?

A buddy recently picked up a 4,700 mile 2011. How is it even possible.
