Hood Vents

Ok, this may be a stupid question but I have to ask, why the hell is one hood vent closed??? Obviously the second is functional but the left one is closed off... Is there anything it can be used for??

When I first got my car I asked the same thing on here. Did a non m3 forum approved modification to it and caught a lot of flack.

Ive never caught anything in there. Even if you do, it removes pretty easily.....

We don't have a garage and my neighbor has this big crepe myrtle tree that hangs over my drive way. Small leave and flowers are constantly raining down on my car. It's not a lot that gets past the plastic grate but what does through is annoying to me! Yes, they remove fairly easily, done it several times already. I am worried about how long the clips will hold up. Removing them once to replace them is one thing, doing it repeatedly likely leads to broken clips and having to replace the part. If I weren't such good friends with the my neighbors I might accidentally spill a bottle of RoundUp at the base of the tree...

It's there purely for symmetry, but I'd be fine with one, just as I'd be fine with Dinan leaving off the nonfunctional two exhaust tips. Form follows function, or should.

I know, that's why I've held off. The spring and summer are tough as the damn tree is dropping crap constantly. And if we get one of our afternoon thunderstorms, the wind and rain magnify the issue. Just getting tired of hosing off my car every morning. It gets all the crap off but then it's covered in water spots. At least the space gray hides them somewhat..

I'm in same boat as you. My garage is full, so I park it my car front of the garage, but I have a huge tree next to the garage that drops this thin sap or something which covers the car. I get the tree trimmed but it continues to fall on my car... Thinking about cutting the whole damn thing down just for my M3.. Ha...

Probably easier (and better for the car) to just empty some space in the garage.

I cut out the passenger side one so its open like the drivers side. Caught hell. I was told how many problems it would cause. None to date just and extra hole for heat to get out.
