He's a police officer. His job is to enforce laws. If you have a problem with a certain law, you should take it up to your lawmakers. The moment a police officer throw his/her own interpretation to the mix, we have a problem. You either broke the law or you didn't - simple as black and white like the police cars. There shouldn't be a gray area just because an officer think weed is ok by his standard.
It's not grey area, it's discretion, and discretion pays huge dividends if used properly. For example, a person who received a break might give you a tip about a more serious crime later. Obviously, there is a limit for this type of thing and it can't be used all the time as violations must be enforced.

All officers interpret the law. If you were in a car where the passenger had a half kilo of cocaine, I could, according to the law, seize your car and likely subject you to asset forfeiture proceedings. But, if I exercised discretion(interpretation) to allow you to keep your car despite the fact that you were clearly culpable according to the law, is that a problem? Think about it.

I'm sure it does as Lohan and Paris have done some time but nothing on Sheen?
The rules are different on alien planets sir. There's no explaining it.

In response to my breast milk question:

Quote:
An Ohio woman attempted to fight off police trying to remove her from her car by spraying them with her breast milk, authorities said.

Stephanie Robinette got into a fight with her husband while attending a wedding at the Bridgewater Banquet & Conference Center in the city of Delaware on Saturday, WBNS 10 News reported.

Her husband told police his 30-year-old wife struck him several times, then locked herself in their vehicle.

"When deputies attempted to remove Robinette from the vehicle, she advised the deputies that she was a breast-feeding mother," said Sheriff Walter L. Davis III.

As deputies went to restrain her, he said, Robinette "proceeded to remove her right breast from her dress and began spraying deputies and the vehicle with her breast milk."

Why do police officers tolerate incompetent and/or corrupt officers?

I don't know. You are assuming corrupt officers make their acts of corruption known to everyone. As for incompetent officers, I can't stand that shit.

At scene's like a concert or big event where people are openly doing drugs. Why do police turn a blind eye? Because they have much more to deal with than rounding up everyone getting high?

I've watched people smoke joints within feet of an officer at a show, and was at another where suddenly a plate of cocaine was going around, what kind of protocol is there??
