Which post on RS6.com are these data from so that we can identify the real source? Thanks.

Well, a source is a source, and the rest is who knows. It would have been good to know the name of the magazine at least. Thanks anyway.

Thanks for the link. It seems like the numbers were posted by a M3 owner. The OP also says the RS4 had optional ceramic brakes.

does it really matter?

I dont find these numbers impossible, M3 weigh less and is a RWD car.

Sure it does; it's an Audi board! The M3 seems to have an edge on the RS4--as expected.

The M3 numbers are consistent with the numbers collected on another thread:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...t=70737&page=5

Also, we know for a fact that the M3 will do 0-60 in 4.4s.

Yes, but the numbers here for the RS4 are way off from the ones absoluteis350 posted.

He had

15.8s for 0-200km/h compared to 17.2s

35m for 100km/h - 0 compared to 36.4m

The numbers listed here for the M3 closely match what is in the other thread. However, the RS4 numbers are way off.

Yes, I noticed that, too, but declined to comment since I am not familiar with the "Euro" spec RS4. Is there even such a thing, or was that guy cooking stuff up?

Here are some various 0-200km/h times for Rs4. From german carmags.

sport auto 10/2005
0 - 100 km/h 4,9 s
0 - 200 km/h 17,1 s

ams 2006
0 - 100 km/h 4,7 s
0 - 200 km/h 17,2 s

sport auto 06/2006
0 - 100 km/h 4,7 s
0 - 200 km/h 16,9 s

For obvious reasons there are no M3 V8 times yet.

Wow. 15.8 is a far cry from those times.
The best times I have seen for the RS4 from a quick google search is 16.6s.

seems like it was only yesterday when the rs4 vs m3 threads were rampant. haven't seen one of those pop up in a while...guess it might be because the performance comparisons are finally streaming in and no speculation is necessary anymore.

Thoughts

Relative numbers look pretty reasonable to me. They are surely not the best postings either car has nor will make. However I am suprised that the RS4 does not outperform the M3 up to around 60 or 80 km/hr or so. The AWD system will deliver very strong accelerations during the wheel slip period when launched properly.

based on these times they are basically saying that the 0-60 of the RS4 is only a little quicker than the E46 M3 lol wtf
