OP it's a shame this happened I feel sick just looking at those pictures, can't even imagine what you're through. Best of luck with getting it fixed and hopefully finding those fucking idiot, low-life scum.
I would not necessarily assume that this act of vandalism was performed by jealous people or for that matter people who can't afford a BMW. When I was a kid the worst neighborhoods in my town for that kind of vandalism were some of the most affluent.

I remember one incident in particular where a bunch of teenage boys broke into a Chevrolet dealers lot and discovered where the keys to the new cars were hidden. They proceed to have a demolition derby and damaged about 30 cars. They were all kids from well to do families,

I think that you were probably the victim of a random irrational act of vandalism.

It is futile to try to come up with a rational explanation for an irrational act.

This does happen. Poor people have more things to worry about than damaging your car. They'd rather steal it or take anything you leave in the car for a quick cash sale. They could care less about the car itself other than what they can profit from.

Bored kids and people who feel slighted or jealous are the ones that will vandalize.

I can almost understand why people want to steal cars.......to get money, but what would make someone damage someone elses property like that for absolutely no reason or personnal gain at all - sad, pathetic individuals.

As I said a few posts back it is futile to try to come up with a rational explanation for irrational behavior.

A number of years ago I had a car destroyed by vandals. It was a Ford Falcon which at the time was worth at most $500, Jealous haters? I don't think so. Psychotic losers? No question.

+1

When I was in high school, a friend's dad who's a doctor caught another doctor keying his Lexus in the hospital parking lot.

Sometimes people are just dicks and that's all the explaination needed.

Man, seeing that kind of thing just makes me sick.

Reminds me of when I first moved to the US a few years back ... I had just bought a brand new VW GTi, and after some shopping, returnedto my car to find that some loser had decided to rip of one my wiper blades. Not juat the blade, but the whole wiper arm and assembly, snapping the metal. Whoever it was must have put some effort into it. Not a great first impression of Seattle.
