Face shield question

What do you guys do during sunny track days. Do you take the clear shield off and wear sunglasses ? Just raise the shield ? Anyone try a darker replacement shield ?

I wear sunglasses under the visor - and I keep the visor open no more than two fingers. I took a 1.25" stone through the window and off the visor once. Hard. I would have been hurt if I had the visor opened. I have taken other track debris - including metal through the window since then.

The visor serves a purpose.

Visor down, sunglasses on (prescription). I've had a very small rock hit me in the cheek before. Visor came down and stayed down after that.

Recently purchased HJC si-12. Looks like they have amber, dark smoke and chrome shields. Not sure which one would act like sunglasses. Suggestions ?

Makes sense I am just a little worried about my sunglasses fogging up with the visor down

Make sure your helmet vents are open. Consider cracking the bottom of the visor a small amount. The best practice is no more than two fingers open - due to the airbag.

Dark smoke, visor down = protected, good shaded peripheral vision.

Consider where the airbag goes if it deploys.

Visor closed or no visor at all.

Another shield down (dark smoke). Too much debris to try just sunglasses.
