Watkins Glen Sep 21-22

Alright Mofo's, anybody here going to be there?? Driving up from Chicago with the family and really looking forward to another epic trek out east to one of the historic tracks of the US. From what I hear, lap times are going to be similar to VIR, does that sound right? Can't wait to get there and hope to see some fellow M3posters out there. If there's any roads to hit on the way up, or some really cool places, the state parks looks awesome up there, and some pointers on the track, would really appreciate it. Will be watching track vids of Watkins from here on out.

The Glen is on my To-Do list of tracks, just a little bit far from me.

Have fun and drive carefully, that car has got to get you and your family back home again!

Enjoy - such a great track! I will be there on the 11th and 12th instructing and hopefully shaking down our chump car.

Yep, will be there with GVC CCA on fri , sat & sun ( Boston CCA is wed and Thursday and a lot of them do both).

Track time for the Glen and VIR are remarkably the same, so if you are a 2:20 man at VIR you likely would be a 2:20 a the glen.

Just was at the glen on the 2th & 3rd with Chin. Dropped my fastest time by 2 seconds ( 2:15.4) so I was happy. I need to focus on maintaining faster minimum speeds in the turns ( I touch the brake too much prior to turn in and I don't make it up). Liked Chin as they run open passing.

For your first time at the Glen just relax and enjoy. Don't think about the blue railings 2 feet beyond the track out cones.

Me too, just had to go. Think tracks like these suit our cars best. Post videos on your return and let me know what to expect as a first timer.

Yeah, the armco looks a bit close. Ran high 2:18's low 2:19's on my first trip to VIR last year and had heard the lap times were comparable. Just wanted to set a goal, won't due anything stupid, I hope

Falls Motel. Reletively inexpensive, nice and clean, 5 min. from the track.

I always stay at the Harbor Hotel - nice accommodations and great bar/patio area to hang out after a day at the track.

Last weekend First lap was the 2:15

yeah, I am too early into turn 9, another thing to work on.....

I looked fast in this video until the GT3 Cup passed me near the end. I timed him at 2:01 later that day.
There are always people that are so much faster ( and better) than me on the track

Can't wait to get out to the Glen again on the 11th and 12th. Looks like rain on the 11th.

Bring your cheque book.

Glen is by far my favorite track.

The pucker factor would be really high at Glen for me with all those walls and them being so close...

Ain't that the truth! This track looks like so much fun. Thanks for sharing that vid and yes, cup cars are scary fast out there. Been at Road America and there was a cup car running about 25 seconds faster than I a lap. Would see it half a lap away, would lift, and before I knew it I was passed and he was gone... It was almost surreal.

That is probably because you have time to look at them in the vids

I'll be there with Boston on the 18th and 19th. I got waitlisted for GVA (it fills up fast). It will be my first time at the Glen so I can't wait. A friend lent me a turn by turn DVD so I'll be watching that from now till then.

The Phoenix CMS event? I'll be there, too. Never run with them, before.

If you see an IB E92 w/ grey AP Racing BBK, that's me.
