Installed my new seats this weekend. MUCH lighter than stock.. The speedcloth stockers were so heavy I struggled to get them out of the car.

Planted Technology mounts. The seats are about 1" taller than stock with these mounts. I put them in first so I could more easily center the seat on the steering wheel.

The shoulder part of the seat is wider than stock so the seatbelt butler actually gets blocked if the seat is all the way back. The alcantera center matches my OE steering wheel very well and the seats look great with the speedcloth doors and interior.

The good news is, I'm 5'10" and at my seating position, I'm just forward enough so that the seatbelt butler actually clears and doesn't get blocked. These seats fold down and I love the leather pull tab. The CF backing is gorgeous

The bad news is I lose heat..which is no big deal as i never use it. I lose powered movement too which is no big deal again. The seat back is still adjustable as is the forward and back, I just lose height and tilt adjustment. Airbags + seat occupancy need to get coded out.

Planning on getting the thread dyed to orange at some point but they kinda look fine the way they are.

How's the comfort? I'm kinda partial to the adjustable lumbar support of the stock seats.

There is no lumbar support and the stock seats are a little more comfortable due to having more padding. I guess I'd describe it similar to putting the EDC in sport mode. You are gripped better in the seat and the ride feels slightly stiffer. It is a little bit harder to get out of the seat due to the slightly higher seat bolster.

I think these seats are comfortable enough to drive long distances. They are more GT style seats than an extreme race bucket. I read somewhere that these are like the factory optional seats in the Guilia and Evora.

Sorry, I bought everything from IND during their memorial day sale and the invoice did not have specific part numbers. The left and right seats are different though due to the folding capability and I'm using Sparco sliders. I'm sure IND or one of the vendors can help you to get the right parts and seat adapters based on your height requirements. They do make adapters that mount lower if you need more head/helmet space.

IND simply offered a discount off all orders on Memorial day weekend only and I took advantage. Contact IND, tell them what you want, they may give you a combo price.. costs nothing to ask.

Nice, what mounts did you use? Have you coded out the air bags yet? How does the lap belt route on the SPX's? I don't like the way it runs over the adjuster on the sportsters...

Thank you.. Planted Technology mounts. I have not coded out the airbags yet.. I'm trying to line up a local guy this weekend or next.

As for the "adjuster," are you referring to the seat back adjustment knob on the side? ...and what lap belts are you referring to, the stock seatbelts or from a 4pt harness? I don't have a 4pt harness but my stock lap belt runs just under the knob and does not get in the way. Probably due to the higher mounting position of the Planted Tech mounts.

Yes on my setup the stock lap belt would run over the seat back adjusters for the recaro sportsters, you can't really get your hand down there anyway with the door closed. Just annoying you have to take belt off and open door in order to adjust seatback. Since then I added schroth quickfits but kinda feel like a knobhead driving around town with harnesses. Although it makes for a better/fun experience..

ahhhh then these are better in that regard as I can reach down and adjust the seat while driving without an issue

Nice seats! We've installed a ton of these, as Sparco's right in our backyard. Here's a set from our previous M4 project:

Enjoy the new SPXs!

Little late to chime in, but how tall are the backrests? It seems most aftermarket seats are aimed at shorter folks. Most modern seat backs are 33-34" from what I see but aftermarket are 30 to 32".

Could you post a pic sitting in them?

Have one in our showroom, back measures at 34".

Great, thanks. 34" is from the ground to the top of the headrest or from where the seat cushion meets the backrest to the top of the headrest?

Measured from bottom of seat cushion to top of headrest, as if you were sitting in the seat.

Appreciate that 🙏. Taller than I expected and in line with oem seat height.
It's a stretch but any chance you have a photo with someone in the seat? Oddly after weeks of searching, I haven't found one photo of someone in the seat and none are local ( near nyc) to try out.

Not sure if that would even help as individuals differ in height, weight, build, long legs/short torso, etc.

Contact Sparco direct and see if they can recommend someone in their directory nearby with a set in their showroom.

Here's Doug in the Lotus version of the spx. They can't be 34" seat backs, unless the lotus version is slightly different. His head is way above the headrest and the pass through harness is completely blocked.
