CSL Trunk Options

Hey everyone!

Apologies if this is a dupe thread but I couldn't find an exact answer. I want a CSL trunk for my E92, but I plan on having it color matched, so I don't necessarily want to spend the extra money for the CF look. Also, I have had weird luck in the past having CF painted, so I would prefer to stay away if possible. Couple things from the little research I've done:

Does anyone have any experience with FRP Plastic like here (https://www.ssdd-motorsport.com/bmw-...frp-plastic/)? The idea of a plastic trunk is weird to me but I imagine there was R&D put into it.

If so, any domestic options? I'm sure shipping on that to California will be a ton.

Any other suggestions? I honestly don't even care about the weight drop. If there was one in the OEM metal material I'd just do that.

I just tried to order it and it would not let me. I emailed them, I will report back if I find it elsewhere. I am looking for one as well!

Strange, but good to know. Yeah please report back. Are you in the US as well? Curious what the final cost will be

Yep, I am on the other coast.....Washington DC area

Awesome, yeah please report back and I will do the same. I'm not finding many good options and I just feel like someone on here has to have gone a non CF route.

I have been looking at the 2 below. Both are CF I am sure you can have them painted. I will leave it or wrap it. I have had good luck in the past with items I got from "Rush". I believe the cheaper one is out of stock but they have a few more. I bought one off eBay a few years ago and sent it back due to the fit and finish.

Back when I had my e92 I found Duke Dynamics to have made the best fitting csl trunk. They come up for sale from time to time on e90 post.

On my e90 now I’m rocking an LTMW trunk,single sided 1x1. The fitment was good, it fits great and doesn’t leak. Can’t comment to the e92 LTMW product tho as I have no first hand experience with it.

Yeah I guess maybe I'll talk to some paint shops. Whenever I have had carbon painted in the past, you can always see the texture through the paint at certain angles and I just really want to avoid that.

Do you know if Duke stopped making them? I don't see ANYTHING BMW on their site. And the LTMW one looks nice, and that comes in the FRP as well. Their site only shows E90 but it says it's built to order so maybe they could do an E92, worth an ask. Thanks!
