BMW Fire Extinguisher Bracket and Safecraft PB Fire Extinguisher Installed

Just wanted to post some pics and info on finally getting a fire extinguisher mounted. Its been a long time coming but I finally recieved the OEM BMW fire extinguisher bracket I ordered almost 3 months ago (BMW Part#: 52100408186). For some reason US BMW dealers cannot order this part as they told me it was a euro only part. Although it lists on most all their web sites but after a few failed attempts I just ordered it from ECS Tuning who imported the part in. The bracket although pretty simple worked really nicely. Its basically a stamped steel plate but is made is such a way that it bolts right up to the bottom of the passenger seat pan. The hardware comes with the bracket and the holes are already in the seat pan. Once mounted up it leaves a nice and convenient place to mount the Safecraft fire extinguisher.

Doesn't get into the passenger sitting space at all. As a matter of fact the thigh bolster can still move in and out like normal.

Bracket was about $40 and the extinguisher was $300. Kinda expensive but I opted for the halon gas and billet head.

Yup. Not that I'm planning on ever using it but a couple of the track event organizers are making it required for tech so I figured this was a better solution than just a bungee cord and a loose extinguisher.

He said in the OP: "ESC Tuning" (sic). But I believe he really means ECS Tuning.

Cheers.

I just registered for the Texas Mile and I need to get something like this set up in less than a week. Would you mind posting the part numbers for the SafeCraft components that you used (Quick release bracket and actual Extinguisher?). I wont have time to wait for the BMW bracket but I can probably find a general bracket or fab something up.
Thanks!

Just the Texas Mile for now - Should be a lot of fun. I'll have my Akrapovic Evo exhaust and ESS tune by then so hopefully I can get a pretty high speed.

I think that I'm going to order this one http://www.h3rperformance.com/hg250b.htm it looks like it's as good or maybe better for a lot less money. I still need to get a mount though.

It'd definitely bother my wife, who likes to bend the knees on long trips, by putting her calves against the seat. I also rest my legs that way every once in a while, to give them a break.

Hey man, would you mind measuring the extinguisher at its shallowest dimension, assuming you didn't install its mounting bracket? I don't track the car, but it's not a bad idea to always carry an extinguisher, since you never know. But I want to carry one in the trunk's compartment, so need a shallow one. Might have to be one smaller than 2 lbs though, but only with measurements I can tell. And yes, halon is the only way to go, since it'd work with any car fire. Thanks.

roycemek ...I could not find the same mount you have on the Safecraft site. I found other styles of the Billet Brackets but not the one you have. And thank you for the part # for the BMW seat mount!

Not sure how anyones calves could touch the extinguisher at its position. Remeber that the extinguisher is mounted to the seat pan and therefore moves with the seat. Basically if you were to extend the thigh bolster all the way out it would almost block the extinguisher from sight.

Not sure I understand what you are referring to as the shallowest dimension but I'm guessing you are asking for the diameter of the bottle. If so it is about 3.75".

The extinguisher mount I selected was the one that says "Flat Plate Mount". What that did was then allow me to make a simple flat plate to adapt it to the BMW bracket.

Thanks,
Royce M
