There are several companies that have tow hook kits out there now days. Its a great alternative that allows for the plate to me mounted and/or unmounted at any time you feel like it.

That would be what I would do. I've been lucky soo far though, they don't seem to mess with me and my press plates much. Maybe its luck, maybe its the power of the press, lol.

Do they affect airbag deployment if you get into a front end collision?

Better yet, you should just stop by the CHP officer's station (wearing your credentials of course in a official capacity) ask for the shift supervisor and compliment him on his officers tenacity for giving such petty violations to another officer then thank him and say that you hope you can return the courtesy to his department someday... Now that would be funny
That'd be pushing it, although hilarious... and its one reason why other cops are usually given courtesy... of course, we're supposed to know better, but we're also usually more skilled at driving than the average Joe (aka: safer). Its a toss up! LOL

jk6672, that's one reason why you should ALWAYS be armed... creates more of a comraderie with the CHP and forces their hand to actually see your creds... to get to know you... Nothing illegal about that my friend.

*I'm of the opinion that unless its clearly UNSAFE, visual mods should be left alone... or if you have a giant POS wing on your car, that should be a DWDB ticket.

Sorry to hear of the ticket. BTW: El Centro, huh? San Diego here brother. Send me a PM if u care to.

I was pulled over for my tint, 35% and I had my windows down and he MADE me roll them up even though now i REALIZE I didn't have to. He also wanted to give me a ticket for no front plate until I told him my husband's best friend is chief of police in our town, I got off with a warning. Then parked in the mall got two more tickets for tint and plate. Try going in to the station and/or writing a letter to contest it. I did and was let go even though our friend told me to take the tint off. Since then I have a letter from a doc saying I have some terrible eye disease and need tint so no more probs on that front. I have NEVER had a ticket despite a number of pull overs and I just try to be nice and respectful, flirting doesn't hurt me either. Times are tough and I think this is how they are getting the extra revenue.

I thought about that but I looked up the Calaw and there are no waivers, even with a Dr.’s notes.

"if the driver or a passenger in the front seat has in his or her possession a letter or other document signed by a licensed physician and surgeon certifying that the person must be shaded from the sun due to a medical condition, or has in his or her possession a letter or other document signed by a licensed optometrist certifying that the person must be shaded from the sun due to a visual condition. The devices authorized by this paragraph shall not be used during darkness."

Has anyone else in Ca had a fix-it citation for non factory tail lights?

I noticed the CHP turn on his emergency lights to cross the intersection and make a left turn a block ahead of me while I was waiting in the left turn lane, but I had no idea the show was just to catch me on the next cross street after I made me left turn. He must have been hard up to write a ticket, he even smiled as he handed me the citation to sign. Asked if I had any questions, then walked away fast as he could.

Just tell him that you believe in Karma and what goes around comes around
