M3 Sedan v. Audi S5
I just got a base model 2008 M3 sedan with only metallic silver paint. My brother in law just took delivery on his Black S5 with only the premium sound package. With my 2650 discount and his car at sticker we paid the same amount (within 200 bucks). I drove his and he drove mine and we both keep wanting to drive the M3. The S5 is beautiful and fast, but the M3 is just downright brutal. The noises, the thrust above 4500 RPMs and the mean looks make me realize that I made the right choice.

It's shocking the price of the S5 in the States compared to Europe, over here the two cars couldn't be class together because of their huge price difference, even my highly specced S5 is £8K less than a similarly specced M3.
But based of what you are saying anyone with half a brain would chose the M3 every time. |

S5 is very hard to get in the state, therefore most of the dealers are selling it at msrp.

cant make up my mind
I dont know what to do.... Here is the situation i have an S5 fully loaded on order that i can cancel if i want. The only reason i would cancel is to get an M3 but i have not been able to find it for the right price till today. Its either a black S5 fully loaded or a white on red M3 with nothing in it and with a moonroof insted of the carbon..... Anybody have suggestions???

what is more fun for you to drive? go from there. Personally, I found the S5 to be a bit fugly, good interior but fugly overall.

The S5 is a beautiful car...that said, it's handling and driving characteristics are on par with the 335, which is far from the M...
The S65 is amazing, and it is the M's soul...the sound and feel above 5K RPM is intoxicating... |

A pointless exercise I know but try doing this in your M3.

LED lights on Audi S5 look really nice. With that said, the M3 and the S5 are both amazing. But they are in different catagories. I really believe the S5 is more touring. The M3 will just eat the S5 and spit it out...

I am in the same predicament as abej26, I have an S5 on order, but it doesnt look like its gonna get built for a good while. I have been considering just getting the M3. I know they are very different cars, but I really could go for either. I really would like a nice GT thats absolutely beautiful and no slouch either, but then I would just as much love tearing into the road and cut those apexes with the M3. I guess I just have to look at each car under a microscope and really see what truly moves me. But its a hard call. |
