Tire sizes for BBS FI

I installed my BBK this past weekend and am now looking into getting a set of FI's. I was wondering if any of you could provide input of what tires will fit with my stock zcp suspension given the offsets and widths are different from my current wheels.

I currently run RAC RG63
----------------
19 x 9 Front , ET22 - 265/30/19
19 x10 Rear , ET22 - 295/30/19

BBS FI
------------
19"x 9.5" ET28
19"x 10.5" ET23

From the information I gathered it seems like I can run 265/30F and 285/30R with no rubbing issues. Can anyone confirm this would b correct for a stock zcp suspension e90 sedan?

I would run 275/295. A 305 will rub in the back with that offset

It seems like people were rubbing with a 295(Rear) on the bbs FI unless they adjusted camber. I want to keep everything suspension wise stock.. so I do not think it will work.

Will a 275(Front) work on stock? I know a 265/30 will.

The te37 have a 22 offset and they rub just a touch. It is probably hit and miss with 1mm more offset. It stinks because 285 is too short to me and 275 is too stretched on a 10.5 imo
The 275 will work on stock zcp but it may be squirmy. Really need a 9.5 or better 10 on the front for a 275

with the offset and size.

i would run..

265/35/19
295/30/19

should not have any issue. but a slight rub when on full turn (front)
295/30 rear should be fine maybe a very slight rub but i think your ok..

now if you track the car.. then

265/35/19
285/30/19

is what i would get...

If you are running ZCP suspension then you shouldn't have any problems running fronts 265/35/19 and 295/30/19 PSS. I'm running that on my current FI. I had some rubbing in the rear. After some camber and height adjustment, I was fine. I'm selling my set of FI btw.

I would run a 265/35/19 and 285/30/19 with your sizing and offsets. Make sure to post pics when you get them mounted!

First of all I think that the offsets on the 19" BBS FI suck. There is no way around it; they are not good offsets. I love the look of the wheels, their quality, weight, sizes, pretty much everything except for their offsets.

9.5 et28 in the front is very conservative and will work without spacers with OEM suspension, springs and most coilovers. They will however be pretty conservative looking (from an offset standpoint). You may have noticed that the 18" version are available in et19 and most aftermarket 9.5" wheels for front use are around et22. Those offsets are far better. The best 19" tire sizes for the front of an M3 are 275/30/19 or 255/35/19. The FI's weak et28 offset will require 10mm or 12mm spacers with KW coilovers if you run 275's and possibly 255's (haven't tested 255's on 9.5" wheels so I can't confirm). I would not run 265/30/19's because that is a thinner sidewall than the above options but it will certainly work. I would not run 265/35/19's because that will rub a lot when you turn the wheel. Many people complain about rubbing at full lock with 255/35/19's, going up to 265/35/19's will make it worse. Again it will work, and has obviously been done but I wouldn't choose that option. On top of that, a 265/35/19 will most certainly result in the front diameter being larger than the rear diameter (unless you run 275/35/19's in the rear) which is the opposite of OEM. The car was designed to have a larger diameter in the rear vs. front. I would not switch that. I would consider the same diameter front and rear (for the benefits of a square wheel/tire) but not a larger diameter front than rear.

The rear offset is even more of a problem because it's too aggressive for 295's which can't be corrected with a spacer. I have ran a 295/30/19 in the rear on a 10.5 et22 wheel and a 10.5 et25 wheel. There is slight rubbing with an et22 wheel with Michelins or Yokohama tires. It rubs at the metal fender and can not be eliminated with camber (I had maximum negative camber when on et22 rears). et25 and a 295/30/19 tire works without rubbing. So I wouldn't recommend a 295/30/19 with the et23 offset based on my experience. That is unless you use a tire that runs narrow like a Hankook V12 which is a sub-par tire IMO. Or you think you will get lucky and make it fit, or you don't mind a little rubbing of the paint on your fender.

So what does that leave you given my opinion about the ideal front tire size? Either a 285/30/19 or a 275/35/19. In order to have a consistent match with the front tire, I would probably run a 255/35/19 in the front and a 275/35/19 in the rear. Those are OK sizes but I would much rather run a 275/295 combo, but that won't work. A 265/30/19 & 285/30/19 combo would work but I don't like the short sidewall of the the 265/30 and 285/30/19 isn't available in my two favorite 19" tires (Yokohama AD08 and Michelin PSS).

All of the above reasons are why I don't like the 19" FI. The 18" FI's are available in far better offsets. I would choose the 18" version.

I 100% agree with this post. I've been searching for the best combo for FI and constantly reading people's feedback on tires recommedation for FI. I really like my Michelin PSS but they don't make 285/30/19. Being limited to the brand and size, I'll be picking another brand on my next set.

Here is my post about the tires for BBS FI...

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=816625

I must say that I have had problems on my ///M3 E92 (OEM suspension) with tires 295/30 R19 rear and 255/35 R19 front! The rear tyres rub the wing and front rub plastic locker when you turned the steering wheel!
Tires Michelin PS2...

Rear

Front

Now I use 285/30 R19 rear and 265/30 R19 front and I no have problems! The only minus is the small selection tires in the 285/30 R19 size.

Ok...dumb question of the day:

What if you ran a 275/30 up front w/ a 10 mm spacer and a 275/35 in the rear to run a "square" setup?

You could do that. You will have a 275 on a 9.5" wheel in the front and a 10.5" wheel in the rear which will look a little odd but it will work. It's just nicer to have a square wheel set with a square tire set so that you can rotate them.

Sweet. Yeah that was why I put square in quotes lol.

As usual, you're right. I'm betting that would look pretty weird. Looks like if one desires a 19" FI, there's nothing left to do buy go with a true square 19X10 setup w/ some BBS RI-Ds then...

Or go with 255/35/19 and 275/35/19 tires.

I have run the following with my FI's using PSS.

A. 255/35/19 & 275/35/19

B. 275/30/19 & 295/30/19

A is drama free but the sidewall is stretched and rounded. Minor rub on the fronts when new which changes to now rub at all.

B is more aggressive and square. No rub up front. Rub in rear over large wallowing dips as mentioned. I am staying/living with this setup for now.

The perfect rear with PSS's would be 285/30 but it is not made.

Did you see in difference in rotational mass? weight saving between two setup?

Turn in seemed crisper. Mass felt the same over all.

I currently run 295/30/19 & 265/30/19 MPSS on BBS FI w/ no spacers. Want to go with Trofeo R's next but not finding good sizes to match the wheels.

Did you get rubbing in the rear?

I don’t want rubbing. I’d like to go with the 265 30 on the front. I think I need to go with a 285 30 on the rear.

There are cup 2 tires at 285 30 but they are runflats .

There’s really no tire I like in 285...
