OP drives a 12' CLS63? He may have gotten off from speeding, I'd probably be in jail within a week.

keys on the roof is a little overkill imo, it isn't a drug bust after all. Shutting the engine off, especially when you have an aftermarket exhaust, is usually sufficient.

The thing that stuck out to me about this is OP said he wasn't paying attention while doing 100+, not good at all. I know there are roads sometimes that are marked 35 but in reality can support much higher speeds, however, you better at least be attentive to what you are doing. Over 100 in a 35 is still probably pushing it a little, but I know I'm no saint.

At least around where I live, cops do just as much pacing in unmarked cars as anything else. I have a V1 but it's pretty much useless since they don't really use speed traps on this area.

I guess it depends where you live and how the cops are equipped. But I'm just pointing out that a V1 isn't a cloaking device.

You may trivialize it, but more head-on collisions happen on the freeways like this than you would believe.

Yeah, I read about that happening every day...NOT. Get real.

You can't live life expecting bizarre stuff will happen every day.

Plus, even if the other guys headlights are off, HIS are on and he'll be able to see him.

Silly argument IMHO. You will be pink mist at 60mph in a head on collision. The extra 40mph makes no difference except in reaction time. But I do agree that you better be concentration at high speeds. This is such a rare situation though in most places that it seems like a pretty random thing to pick as the main point of your argument.

Yes and no - there are 35mph back country roads around me with no houses or anything else around. Biggest danger is deer.

We all have fun cars to drive. They are fast and handle very well. Our responsibility is to the safety of our passengers, pedestrians, cyclists, animals and other vehicles. If you can avoid harm to any of those then drive as you are willing to accept the risks of your discretions.

OP, while I don't speed like you, I too hope that I'm able to meet some good cops by doings the aforementioned things to make them feel safe and secure. Good lesson to all.

+100 mph in Virginia is mandatory jail time, it's a sure way to fuck up your life. Not worth it. 20 mph over in Virginia is reckless.

I have to say, it is completely irresponsible to drive over 100 mph on a urban highway, or any highway outside of "derestricted" areas of Montana and the likes. I have seen so many people weave in and out of highway traffic driving 90+ mph, and I"m thinking, if he fucks it up, he'll end up killing other in the process...

Next time you will not be so lucky, I recommend you obey the speed limits with a 10% increase then no one will pull you over unless there are signs that speed limits are to be strictly enforced.

I don't want to sound like a ass, however, if you go 80 in a 35 zone you make it hard for the rest of us ... speed limits are there for a reason. Just saying ... think about it.

Find a nice track if you like to go fast and need to be free of restricted speed limits. Just remember this, we all pay taxes for the roads out there. This means we all have the privalage to use the roads and NOT a right to drive on them recklessly as your story makes us believe.

As for showing Officer respect it goes without saying, those fellows have a tough and very dangerous job to do the deserve our respect at all time.

I never speed in Virginia; those cops don't mess around. I'm like 7-9mph over the whole way. Plus no radar detectors : \

On my experiences with the V1 it has saved me so many times. Of course I have watched my rear view and corners but it has done it job countless times.

This! These threads always end up the same way...

Ps I got a ticket a couple of weeks ago for 56 in 40. 50 yards from 45 sign down the road. I have a v1 and it went off, but it was too late, the reason he pulled me over was that I got to 56 kinda fast i was polite and he didnt give me any shit, just a ticket for 400 bucks. i dont mind making donations to my local police department every year or two

Wow, my M3 didn't even come with an accelerometer, only a speedometer. Is that an option?
