How do the 80-120kph figures compare to the Coupe? I have the M3 vert (DCT) on order and fully expect it to feel rather slow compared to the Coupe but the advantages of getting the roof down and hearing that V8 should make up for the lost performance. I have a mildly modified Focus ST (271bhp and 330ft/lb from a remap and filter) at the moment that is much quicker but the wife wanted a drop top again! As a comparison the ST can do 80-120kph in 3.6sec in 4th gear and 4.3 in 5th..... but it sounds crap and the roof won't drop

I'm also going to be ordering an E93 with DCT. I think it's safe to assume that if BMW claims 5.1 sec 0-60, the actual time will be anywhere from .4 to .6 seconds faster (given that the coupe and sedan are similarly understated vs. car magazines' times in the range of 4.1 to 4.3). I'm no expert in automotive engineering, but I would also guess that the M DCT quarter mile times will be anywhere from a "best-case" 12.9 to approx. 13.2 (coupe/sedan with 6MT hitting 12.5-12.7 in car mags). This may not be coupe/sedan fast, but will still be an incredible amount of fun to drive, especially with the V8 soundtrack with the top down!!

So do you have a June build date? About a week and a half ago, I went to my dealer here in the Chicago area - apparently the factory will accept US orders for the convertible with 6MT only for now - as DCT convertibles (at least for USA) will not start to come off the production line until June - dealer told me they will regularly follow-up, but it appears we cannot submit my specs to the factory until May (which means realistically, I won't have my car until July, or God-forbid, August!! Any idea when yours will be delivered?

I could have had a May delivery for the manual or June for the DCT..... in the end I didn't need the car quickly so went for a Sept delivery (the lease on the ST ends then and I don't need two cars).....

The UK BMW site shows the M3 Vert 80-120kph with the DCT time now..... in 4th gear they quote 5.0 for the DCT Vs 5.7 for the manual

If July or August, why not just order a 2009 M3 E93 for ~October and save a year's depreciation in a few months

Very impressive results! (ok - I'm biased as I've already ordered an E93). Certainly much better than many people, including myself, would have expected given an approx. 500 lb. weight penalty. The full chart shows it had a significantly faster time around the track than the Audi S5 and 335i, and also better than the M5 and M6 cabrio. I still think the car mags will get even better 0-60 times than 5.1 (esp. with M DCT), and I predict quarter mile, skidpad and slalom will be much better than we might have thought at first glance...
