M school or Luxury watch?

So my 40th b-day is coming up and my wife has given me two choices for a gift. 2-day M school or a luxury watch. This would be my second BMW driving school (1 day school taken in 2005). Thoughts?

Do you have any other luxury watches already? Which watch are you considering?

Since you have been to the Performance Center, take the watch and participate in a HPDE event somewhere.

I do not have one. I would be looking at an Omega, Longine, Paneri, Rolex, etc.

OP, No offense intended, but why does it matter to you what WE think? You do not need our approval. It is very much a personal choice, so make it, be happy and don't look back. Be grateful for the gift either way.

Both! Get a good consumer watch and go to M-school.

Unless you are dropping Rolex/Breitling numbers, it ain't really a "luxury" watch (sorry, not being an ass, but it's true). It will still tell the time and remind you of your wife.

Not looking for approval I just thought in this forum some of you would have attended M-school. So far I haven't heard anyone say M-school was a must have.

All Rolex/Breitling(sp) are factory made. There are only a handful which are hand made and those are in George Soros price ranges.

In any case I understand what you're saying.

M school all the way. M school at the performance center in SC was one of the coolest things I have ever done. The skills you learn and the activities you get to participate in there are priceless. My vote would be M school.

Since you've been to BMW performance school, I'd say go to Skip Barber... Forget about the watch...

I hear ya. Sorry to bristle up, I'm just not into the whole watch scene, that's all...

But I'm very much into the track scene!

I went to the 1-day M-School as a free perk when buying my car in '08. It was great but unsure if I would pay out of pocket for it. Now the 2-day Advance M-School at VIR was probably one of the best schools I ever attended. First time at that track, very personalized instruction, a blast driving their cars hard! A "must have"?...I don't know. It's pretty pricey, I got it for about half-price through unique circumstances, but I would *highly* recommend it...(certainly over the fancy watch).

BTW, Happy 40th!

Would take experiences over goods any day. This is part of the problem in this country is we value goods over experiences and we wonder why we're so fucked up. Go create a memory that will last forever and leave the jewelry to others. My .02

I would take Rolex. Actually my wife gave it to me as a gift for my 40th b-day What a coincidence. As others said, you already went to perf. school, so you probably know how to drive. Just sign up for HPDE, have fun and injoy your watch.
