MY LC2i always smelled like burnt electronics. My bass would fluctuate from what I remember too. I ended up getting a custom LOC from Dave Navone and tossed the LC2i. The wiring harness has been perfect.

That's what I've been experiencing as of late. Thought it might be either the amp or sub, so I dropped in a temp amp and a temp sub. Nope, still keeps dropping out for no reason. It'll be playing one moment, and when I go to turn up the bass knob, no bass. Might have to look @ this as an alternative.

I went with the custom high volt LOC by Dave Navone and my bass hit the same every time. No more smell, no more bass fluctuation. It just works!

Mine is holding up great, but it's only been ~6 months (EPS and Technic harness, with W3 10"). I don't run the sub at loud volumes all the time though, and have the gains set fairly low. We will see how long it lasts.

I ended up blowing an SWS speaker that was run through the Technic Harness, LC2i and Zapco Amp. I tried switching channels around and it seems as though the right channel on the LC2i is also fried. I get very minimal response out of the right channel with the good sub, good response from the left channel, and no response from the bad sub on either channel of the amp or LC2i.

Need to make some more posts then message Technic. Need to see if I should get a Navone LOC to replace the LC2i. Fairly sure it blew because the gains were too high on the LC2i and not high enough on the amp.

Dude call David navone! The super high voltage LOC works great and my bass is much cleaner.

I hated the LC2i. Accubass sucks.

I got a high power LOC from Navone, but I'm getting some clipping in the right channel of the supply. If I change the RCAs (L&R) the clipping follows the Right output of the LOC.

Would this be as a result of the factory amp??? Or could it be the LOC? It honestly seems like the output of the right subwoofer is less than that of the left. Could my technic harness be incorrect? Am I taking my signal from the incorrect channels, i.e. using a tweeter channel...

I need to find the wiring schematic for the amp so I can check this technic harness.

I'm sorry to hear this. I've never had any left or right issues. Then again, mine powers a single trunk sub.

Human error can happen on manufacturing. So who knows. I think I I have another technic harness. We can compare or maybe I can loan/sell to you.

So like 5 minutes after I posted this I was inspecting the Technic Harness and one of the wires pretty much came undone from one of the sockets. I crafted a pin removal tool from a beer can... ingenuity. Then soldered the wire back to the pin/socket.

Now if I crank it up real loud, the amp does clip on both channels, but this seems like it's at a more appropriate level.

I'm starting to think that I never had any problems with my equipment... LC2i, woofer, anything... I'm thinking it was just that the one wire to the right woofer on the Technic harness was barely touching.

So what is the actual deal here.

Does the LC2i work for 98% of people looking to add a sub to their M3, without issue? Based on this thread that pops up in every single one of my searches, and all of BIGWORMs posts with issues, it looks like it has a 70% failure rate.

I know of three people who had my issue. I heard a rumor that the LC2i had a bad production batch too. I tried two of them and they both smelt like burning electronics and they both fluctuated the bass. So I gave up.

I've went with old school custom LOC that cost me 50 bucks I think from Dave navone and have had clear clean bass without issue.

I'd call music car northwest and ask Ken what he thinks of the lc2i too.

Good luck. But I'd just get a cheaper better quality loc from Dave navone.

There is now an LC2iB, which is described as updated processing to keep it running cooler.

I just bought it from Crutchfield and will install it with my Pioneer amp and 10W3-4 sub and report back. This is going into an F80 M3 with HK sound.
