Question, how much does maintenance cost for the GT-R? Scheherazade , if you're ever in the Rockville/Gaithersburg area, I'd love to check out your GT-R.

Who in their right mind would trade in a GT3 4.0?

The person traded a GT3 vanilla, in order to pay down a GT3 4.0. As far as I understood it, anyways... Quote:

Sorry I wasn't clear. He had a "regular" 3.8 liter 2010 GT3 RS and traded for a 4.0 liter GT3 RS. The guy is super rich(not Obama rich). He has a boat load of cars(McLaren SLR, Carrera GT, new GT2 RS, etc.)

Here's the vehicle I was referring to:
http://www.valleyimports.net/2010-Po...-ND/vd/7822555 It has more miles than I thought. Is the car really worth this kind of money?

I'd say $125-130k would be a fair price. Most cars in this price range are not moving. I just looked at the car again to see what they mis-printed. Sure enough they quote 435HP when in fact it has 450. My GT3 has 435. Also this was one of those improperly optioned cars, imo. I.E. the beautiful red deviated stitching should continue down the end of the PCM, through the gearshift where it is currently white. Looks dumb up close. The clock on the dash (Sport Chrono, AKA ugly Wart) needs to go. It serves no purpose and ruins the fluid Full Leather dash option. The seats are Adaptive Sport Seats, which weigh about 47 lbs more than my standard seats and roughly 74 lbs more than the RS's standard Sport Buckets. It's also got Nav and PCCBs (Ceramics), neither of which are bad but add collectively $13,000 to the sticker. Nav is kind of heavy for a car of this caliber and purpose as are the aforementioned A.S.S. (Seats). I can't tell for sure but it looks like the dealer missed the auto dimming mirrors option. Maybe they wanted to save the 2 lbs after adding all the other weight. Last edited by devo; 09-29-2011 at 08:05 PM.. |

I have no idea what he was thinking but the guy that owned it is stupid rich. He has the new Turbo S, the new GT2 RS, and will shortly have the 4.0 GT3 RS. He blows through 3 or 4 911s every year. The only Porsche he has retained long term is a Carrera GT.

By the way you need to spend about $5-6K on the RS to make it track worthy, not to mention getting rid of the PCCB - (that was my fault) |

LSD is gone after 1K miles, (or basically when it leaves the showroom)
The rear suspension needs solid monts and adjustable dogbones and toesteer to maintain corrcet toe and camber setting under load changes (the OEM gets toe out under braking) You better TIG weld or screw the coolant line fittings - they have a tendency to come apart and loose all cooling, the PCCB brakes are not good / super expensive to use on the track (they advertised as 100Kmiles etc in reality they can take about 10-12 track days and you need rotor change which is 22K at all 4 corners. No track pad option on PCCB - formerly Pagid P50 green pads were heralded as such now Porsche claims they ruin the rotors so you left with the OEM pads, which are actually not bad but again not great either. Should I continue?? |

Thanks,
Complettely off topic, but in the last 3-4 months lost several hours of sleep on this, is the question of what you actually want "on the track" Clearly I am too old and not talented enough to be a race car driver. Racing for some team and put up huge money just to be part of the team and realize that I am not "Senna" feels like a big vaste to me. Rather do some charity and help the less fortunate. On the other hand every time on the track want to do more. The GT3 RS was a step up from the M3, the cup or maybe a radical SR8 would be another step up but then I would be clearly out of my range in terms of abilities. Pluss I just dont have the time right now. I do not know, and I do not expect any advise on these thoughts here, especially not on this thread but the frustration is there. I even went so far as to buy some land and build a go-kart track and go with a 125cc shifter kart. Anyway, I never wanted to say that the GT3RS is not a great car, but it's not without fault, especially if you are frustrated! |

Anyway, the RS is much more than a step up from the M3. No offense to any M3 owners. I would love one as my dd to replace my 335 but not to replace my weekend warrior gt3, let alone an RS. |
