Data 2 and 3 I provided. Concept of model year does not exist in EU and most other countries, so it's not really possible to provide that data accurately.

I think it being equipped with 6MT is appropriate. Along with the rev happy NA engines, sadly the MT is next on the chopping block.

Porsche announced they will not offer 6MT on some of their product lines.

They probably wont offer 6MT on any Porsche within 5 years I bet. It's all 7MT and PDK now

I agree, but looking at the major divisions is pretty interesting:

E92 / E90 / E92
MT / DCT
NA / RoW LHD / RoW RHD

I've heard that the E36 sedans are becoming more sought after, due in part to their low numbers. According to bmwmregistry there were about 8600 E36 M3 sedans produced for the USA market. NA sedan manual (LHD): 4,574 produced from 09/96 through 05/98.

Knowing that my manual E90 is one of only 3135 like it in North America gives me even greater motivation to hold onto this car for a long time (not that I needed any more!).

Completely agree. Even if you go by just color/upholstery configuration, that is 60 different possible versions, not including Individual.

I am another lucky 2013 M3 owner, and this really is a dream car to have.

Going back I6 is a good thing for me. After my current M3 is retired, who knows what gas prices will be and perhaps by then I'll be warmed up to the new M3/M4...

How do you drive your cars?!?? I am getting 18.6 MPG average on my 2013 M3. Given it's modestly-spirited driving during the break-in period before the first oil change, but it's nowhere near 8-11 MPG. Even in stop-go-traffic it goes down to maybe 12 at the lowest, but I avoid that as much as I can, preferring a detour that may be way longer, but without traffic.

and there you have it...on a demand standpoint, EVERYONE in the world essentially prefers DCT, and as such, BMW only offered DCT in the F10 M5 for RoW. This is also hard proof that Americans are truely keeping the 6MT alive!

Well, if that VIN number and the production date 06/28/13 is correct this fire orange is not the last build E92 M3, My M3 was build after it

My VIN sequential production number is higher than this car AND the production date of my car is 07/01/2013 !

I don't get 8-11...I don't have an M3. I have two friends with M3's. One is an E90 6MT, the other is a E92 DCT. Those guys get 8-11, not me! I'm sure they could do much better than that but they typically don't according to them.

Indeed, only 66k E90/E92 M3s made. Only 2/3rds of the goal of BMW. That makes all of the investments and tooling pay off a heck of a lot less. Nowhere near the profits on the car they had hoped for. Not even anywhere near the 85k E46 M3s sold (http://www.bmwmregistry.com/model_faq.php?id=19#2). But like you said there is no timing the economy, not even for giants like BMW.

I think the profit from the M3 E9x series, very likely, exceeded BMW expectations.
When you evaluate what the M3 did for BMW profit you need to go beyond just E9X M3 production numbers. You need to consider the effect of the reputation of the M3 on the sale of other BMW series cars. For example, were more 3/5/7 series cars sold because of the E9X M3 performance (racing, magazine comparisons, etc.) accomplishments over its 5 year lifespan? Judging simply from the M logos on wheels and other M options bought by 3/5/7 customers, I think the answer would be "yes." How do you measure that effect? Go to the BMW Balance Sheet and look for the line item titled something like "Goodwill." That will give you a clue.
