Nurburgring 24

I just came back from the start of Nurburgring 24. What an amazing place/event. This is truly heaven for car enthusiasts. I have included some pics from this experience. I took over 450 pictures. I was very exited about the M3 participating and took numerous pics of this beast. The battle for the first place is between Manthey Porsche (winner for the last 4 years) and the Audi team.

BMW M3 #25 is currently in 5th place. Remember, there are 250 cars participating in this race. I hope the M3 will be one of the top 3 when the race finish.

Here is the link. They are pretty good updating the info. They only show certain things in German. Refreshing the screen will update the standings. I hope this helps.

How is Doerr Motorsport doing? I believe they have an M3 GT4 in the race. It's based upon a production car whereas the GT2 is a fabricated race car with a body that looks like an M3.

The number of the M3 is 96 and they are currently in 34th place.

The favorites are out. Manthey Porsche #1 and Audi #100 left the race last night. Not sure what happened.

The BMW M3 seems strong. In 3rd place and holding.

It's amazing. Still over an hour left and the Ferrari is so close. This is going to be a close one.

So not only does BMW take 1st place, it also had more cars in the top 10.

the nurburgring 24hr race is never without surprises. Its great that the M3 GT2 got the win but not without some luck (well bad luck for Manthey/Porsche). If a 1 series hadn't shunted right in front of the #1 Manthey car, they probably would have had the win 4th year in a row. I was impressed that the GT3 R Hybrid being a prototype held the #1 spot until transmission issues on the 23rd hour. Still a great drive by that team also supported by Manthey. I'm pretty impressed with Car #11 coming in 13th place. This is a street 911 GT3 RS that is stock except for the necessary modifications to run it in the race. It was street legal and driven to the track. They had Chris Harris from Evo magazine as one of the drivers. Overall, very exiting race. If you have any pictures of #11 I would sure like to see them. Also I thought it was very impressive of the Z4 race cars. I hope BMW rethinks their direction on the current Z4 and make a coupe version again.
