Bored with your M3? What do you do?

I know first world problems right! Just wondering what you guys do when you feel like you've taken your M3 as far as you want to take it? I'm not going to doing anything till next year, but if all goes well I might change it up a bit. Right now I just can't justify another 10-15K in modifications to the E90. With the turbo M's coming out, I don't see spending the money on a supercharger for a car that's 5-6 years old and has no warranty.

Not sure how long some of you keep your cars, but 3-4 years into it I always seem to get the itch. I'm even having thoughts of the dark side.... C63 or a used GTR

Thoughts?

Well, many of us have reached that point despite loving the M3 for what it is. Your options? Mod (...but even then you will reach a point where there's just nothing else you can really do providing that you've spent the dough) or change cars. I'm not one that will drop the type of top dollar that our most renowned members - with some of the most memorable cars - will, but I will change vehicles if/when one fails to illicit reactions from me anymore. No, it's not the most financially prudent behavior (..cars are my vice, and we all have our vices), but neither is buying a 65-80k car and spending $20k+ in modifications; it's a losing proposition.

Kart tracks are about all we have down here. Closet track is over 3 hours away one way

Agreed -- wait till next spring and see what the M4 turns out to be. Might be well worth the upgrade... time will tell.

3 hours isn't that far. Guys around here drive that distance all the time for track time.

Ain't that the truth!!?? It takes me about 3 - 3 1/2 hours to reach Buttonwillow from Rancho Cucamonga, but my saving grace is Autoclub Speedway in Fontana, CA. It's in my backyard and it's my "home" track.

Return it to stock or somewhere in between? A mostly stock M3 seems to have more longevity for me nowadays, not that I ever did much to my M3's in the past anyway.

3 hours to Mid-Ohio is not bad at all...world class track too!

You can try autocross too. They're pretty fun, your car won't kick ass, but still fun nevertheless.

Not bored, so much as tired of being passed by the Miata Swarm on the track. I think I need a driving lesson or something.

You can't take it out on the kart track?

3 hours isn't really that far. Take it to the track OP - you'll love it.

This doesn't seem consistent with your boredom point from the OP. Seriously, Mid Ohio is a great track and tons of people from Cincinnati drive up there and have a blast. Plus, there is a one day novice driving event this Sunday with PCA run in conjunction with a club race. It is going to be a lot of fun and I will be instructing. Think about coming up - or another weekend.

I guarantee you will not regret it.

imo if you get bored and you consider buying a new car then you haven't purchased the right car from the beginning

Ehhhh, that's a bit of a stretch (...and too loose a theory). Humans are organic/dynamic; what you like/need/want today may not be what you like/need/want next year.

Its not a female companion. Its a car. Maybe I like a little variety every few years?

Never said "I'll love you till the day I die" when I bought it.
