I have a VERY interesting question...
Is it possible during the ordering process to specify that you want the European front bumper? Could a dealer contact BMW and specify that the customer would like the European bumper?
I think a option like this should be made available to North America customers. |

the answer is.......
NO NO SHOT Doesn't matter what you are willing to pay, BMW AG can't send that car with the Euro Bumper to the North American Market.

BUT, I think it is just an import regulation. Local laws may not specify these be on the car....I need to research the CA code and find out...not that I really am worried about it, but may be interesting to look into.
Being as the feds regulate this, the states may have decided it was not needed. I will check it out.

NO cop will ever pull you ever and notice that you removed your orange reflector from your bumper.
IF he does, hes a real cocksucker! But realistically, that won't happen!

I failed a state inspection in PA because the reflectors were modified and not DOT legal. Granted it was from a douche dealership, but it is possible.

the dealer wont sell it to you that way. but you can certainly buy the part from the dealer (or someone willing to ship one overseas to you). then install it yourself. no one will question the legality once you've already purchased the car. i have a JDM rear bumper on my evo which eliminates the USDM crash beam, yet no one has ever questioned me during inspections...
think of it as a body kit. |

if its because of the reflectors that you want a EURO bumper. Why not have it removed, filled in and painted?
Cheaper and looks just as good

I refrained from making a post like yours yesterday, but I feel VERY disappointed as well. Some people believe that their thoughts are a lot more interesting than reality suggests. Here's another VERY interesting question. If I offer a dealer money for a car, will he sell it to me? I bet that's the first time anyone's ever thought about that scenario.

This has been beat to death. There is no way for us to ad-hoc request certain parts be added to our US-bound cars.
I tried and failed to get the Euro-only Shadowline trim added to my 'vert while it was in production. Got laughed off the face of the planet and was asked "shall we give your production slot to the next customer in line?" I sucked it up and am taking delivery of the "matte aluminum trim" and am having it covered by Brandon the minute I get my car.
