It depends . If you're replacing a sensor with a dead battery you don't (well, maybe the stem, but I've never had to replace one yet). Just remove the valve with a hex wrench/socket and transfer it to the new sensor.
But if you're buying sensors for a second set of tires, then you definitely do. And in that case you also need the rubber gaskets, the washers, and the nuts, which are sold as a 'repair kit' (along with stems) for $12 delivered on eBay in case they're not included with the new sensors. Good luck.

Yep, but buy the 'repair' kit I mentioned. When removing the sensors, you're much better off using a new rubber gasket. For $12 delivered, not worth risking a leak, and risking rim damage to remove/remount tire again. Tire dealers charge up to $15 per kit, when you can get all 4 delivered for $12. Do a search on eBay. By the way, reuse the washers, since they're slightly concave. The nuts are the same, so you might as well use the new ones. I left the original valve stems, but if they give you trouble they can be easily replaced for the crappy ones on the kit. They usually don't give you any trouble until many tens of thousands of miles.

As a final comment, how many miles on those sensors? If they have close to 50K, I'd buy new ones man. Again, having to remove tires to replace them is an invitation for wheel damage. Good luck.

I bought a set of 4 sensors from tirerack along with the tires for ~194 (09 M3). This way you get exactly what you need to mount them with your new set of wheels. No need to worry about washers and stuff. I was told they were OEM sensors. I didn't look at them since I didn't install myself but they work fine with my new wheel set and the stems look the same as the ones on my other wheel set.
