Exclamation Info: M-DCT official presentation, Sunday, January 20th

Talk to my dealer today and ask if M-DCT is now in the dealer-configurator...he says no, but an technican who was is the room as my call reached him says him that about M-DCT shouldn´t be official talked...but as my dealer know that I asked him first about the E90 M3 Sedan and later about M-DCT for a long time ago (preordered the car as soon as July 2007) an he has told that I become the first car available...my dealer asked the technican if he had some good news for an M3 buyer, and then the techinican stated that the M-DCT would be:

"...official presented by BMW on Sunday, January 20th and ready for order in the internal bmw configurator from Monday, January 21st on...and could be also ordered from this date on..."

Looks like NAIAS 2008!

Hope that are good news for this forum...

The question is, "will the US get availability at the same time as the rest of the world?"

I think that's the question is rhetorically asked above. I don't think anyone here will know until the press release happens.

I'm gonna say we can't order in the US at the same time. That is, unless they release pricing on the same day, which is very possible.

My guess is that US bureaucracy like crash testing, etc will keep the M-DCT M3 away from the US order bank at least until this fall or 6-8 months from now, and it will be one of the major additions to the 2009 model, including the convertible.

Going by that, I will take my dealer's first 6MT M3 in March and enjoy it and decide next year whether or not I want to upgrade to an 2009 model with M-DCT after the first few examples are evaluated by other forum members.

That's awesome if true, and means I might be getting my car sooner than expected if I don't have to wait for M-DCT !!

One more confirmation that my dealer info (production start week 10) was correct.

Are you smoking crack? All kidding aside, I think it will be available for US production from Jan 21st forward. I have no facts just a hunch. I believe BMW has been waiting to announce the price here in the US until all options have been finalized. Here's to wishful thinking!

E93 M3 + M-DCT = Bliss for TheBry!

Do you think they'll be making the convertible announcement in conjunction with the M-DCT announcement on 20 January?!! That would be soooo cool. I've been itching to order this configuration (have money and paid-off trade-in burning a hole in my pocket)!

Then again, January seems like an odd time to be announcing a convertible.

BMW will introduce the 1 Series convertible at NAIAS. Also, the X5 xDrive 35d, 335d and BMW Advanced Diesel with BluePerformance. Read about it here:

Thanks GregW... I figured it was wishful thinking. Wish they'd announce the darned thing already. Maybe at Geneva in March?

The 20th is long after the press conferences have ended at NAIAS. BMW could still issue a release on that day of course, but I don't think it will be in association with the auto show.

True. BMW has a 25-minute press conference scheduled the first press day, 1/13 (next Sunday) at 1:10pm. This just changed from 1:15 and expanded by 5 minutes on 1/9.

I'm guessing the press conference is focused on their main news, the diesels and the 1 Series convertible.
