why pay when you can code this yourself. goto the coding sub-section of e90post to learn how to do this.

Seriously dude? Seriously?

Holy poop balls people, coding for this is like $15 and a bunch of people on the forum code for free -_-

I agree. I was just trying to let people know that there is a DIY guide for coding out there. There are more to coding than just this efficient dynamics indicator. You can also use the cable to diag your car and clear codes.

Pay money to lug your engine? This is technology we can do without.

To answer earlier questions:

- Yes it can be turned on and off by holding the BC stalk button for 5 seconds (after you code to make it available at all, of course)

- It only actually functions when POWER is set to Normal, not Sport or Sport Plus, otherwise the arrows just show up and don't ever say to shift up or down and into what gear. That made it a dealbreaker for me because I always drive in Sport and I can't see why BMW put this restriction in.

Shifting at 2K RPM? Is this thing even meant for M3s? I can imagine shifting at 2K RPM is fine on a 335... the S65B40 lugs like hell under 2K RPM.

I'm perplexed. BMW has all these little features on our cars yet we have to pay money risk voiding our warranty to "unlock" them. WTF, is this a video game? Where do i need to punch in up up down down A B A B? Jeez... The only feature I really wish I had was the auto folding mirror feature.

And no, i dont need a computer to tell me when to shift. I'll let the engine sound do that.

We've coded this feature for quite a few local SoCal M3s.

This is 6MT only, not compatible with DCT models.

Been coding this feature for a long time too... If you follow the suggestions, the will be an increase in fuel mileage - no doubt about it.

Here is a youtube video I made awhile back on it:

If anyone would like this coded, let me know!

I think BMW put this restriction in place because it is LOGICAL. In fact, the ultimate display of BMW's logic in this regard is that this is not enabled functionality as shipped, because it is retarded to use in a M3.

Enable Shift Suggestion in 6MT
KOMBI
SP_ANZEIGE -> aktiv, SCHALT_PKT_BC -> aktiv, SCHALT_PKT_DAUERHAFT -> aktiv
(try nicht_aktiv for DAUERHAFT if you find you cannot hide the display)

it only works with the throttle setting in normal on the M3. It means if you want to see the numbers next to the arrows, do not turn on the M button while you are driving.
Why it does not work with MPower on?
This isn't a shift light that tells you to shift, it is only for maximizing your gas mileage to tell you what is the best shift while you re driving in normal.... Other than that everyone knows you don't wanna save gas while you are driving in MPower (:

Did BMW intend this option for M3s (i.e. is it available on stock M3s in some markets) or it a feature for other models that happens to work with the M3 when enabled?
