Think you are hard core? How about this in your back yard?

http://jalopnik.com/5849231/in-his-f...vate-racetrack

If anyone saw the American Top Gear epiosode where they were choosing cars for Donald Chump, and they had a section with old women driving a Gallardo, Turbo S cab and a Conti GT driving around a track, you might have been wondering where the track was...well here it is...

Daddy! Daddy! I want one!

Pffft. Mile-long? The private racetrack in my front yard in my imagination is 3.1 miles long. A mile-long track makes Lime Rock seem like the Nurburgring.

I actually visited something similar in the 1980s. I lived in Midland, Texas at the time and went to meet Jim Hall (the Chaparral and Indy racing guy) to ask some questions about I guy I was thinking of going to work with. Out in back of the shop was a race track. I think, if I recall correctly, it was called Rattlesnake Raceway. It was just under a mile and pretty snake-like. Of course, they tested cars out there in the hey-day of Chaparral.

It was like a museum in the shop, with several of the Chaparral sports cars in race worthy condition. Jim was very cordial and straight talking about the guy I was considering going to work for.

I think I remember reading that either Jim Hall or Hap Sharp had a big "off" at Rattlesnake and needed extensive surgery and recovery to be put back together. It's like, pavement, then cactus and easy to ball up a car with a roll. Of course there was probably no safety equipment, but the drive to the Midland Memorial Hospital was only about ten-miles.

Very Cool! Remember seeing another vid showing this track awhile back.

Guess the true element of surprise would be if someone was leaving the house and you were on a hot lap...... that will test the reflexes
