Sirius Radion App for Iphone and 09 M3

Since the Sirius radio costs almost $800 bucks I’m considering the new Iphone 3gs because Sirius just came out with an App to stream Sirius radio over the phone. Plus the phone looks great and I would like an upgrade from my blackberry curve.

I have an 09 M3 with smartphone integration and ipod/USB control.

What features will I gain by going with the iphone and smart phone integration?
Is it just an easy spot to keep your phone and it charges too?
Does the Idrive display more than what I current see through the Bluetooth address book?

iPhone snap-in adapter + smartphone integration adds the ability to use iPod while iPhone is connected via bluetooth and charging. It also adds the ability to use the external shark fin antenna for better reception.

As far as the phone book, the only thing it adds is proper ability to display multiple numbers for the same name. But I think it does this even if you don't have the dock.

I'm not sure how you're going to get the audio from sirius to pipe over the connection though, but good luck!

the iphone app is NO REPLACEMENT for the factory installed sat. radio. im sorry but it is not- There are better apps out there for steaming music over your phone.

you are not going to have near the sound quality, and god help you if you ever go out of 3g network- the sirius app will not work well if at all.

the sirius app has a lot of fixing to do before it gets good enough to actually listen to right.

Go ahead and spend the money- 800 dollars seems like a lot for installing the sirius radio. Im sure if you look around, you can find ways to get it installed for much less....

this is just my opinion- Its much nicer and easier to have the factory installed stuff than trying to go the cheap route......

Why don't you just get an aftermarket radio and hook it up to the aux in? That only costs like <$50

FYI, Howard Stern's channels (Howard 100 and 101) aren't included in the iPhone app.
