Rustoleum NeverWet

Wow, I just saw this on a FB engineering feed

Pretty awesome, it says it dries on a light haze, so this may also be a temporary frozen color?? haha...but it may work pretty well for those who hate cleaning ZCP wheels. May/may not be great for a car, but this is cool!

"it's not a permanent finish and will eventually wear off. How long it lasts depends on how much wear the surface gets, but the base coat remains intact, meaning you'd need to reapply only the topcoat. The finish is not crystal-clear and has a suede-like texture, so it's not suitable for glass. It's not oil-repellent either. "

"it's like frosted glass"

Very interesting product. Alot of testing would be needed to have applications on the car and I feel like durability on wheels might be an issue

so if you guys look at the 2nd video, they applied it on an iphone. They said that it dries hazy but it doesn't look hazy on the phone. This is certainly a neat thing!

wow that's a good vid! i think he only did it to the back because it has the most room for error and it's not visible from the front if anything goes wrong.

that guy is a moron, he poured soap or w/e detergent on it and started bitching. He obviously didn't read the instructions cuz it clearly states:

Certain solvents, alcohols and soap/detergents will cause the surface of the coating to lose superhydrophobicity.

It dries with a slight haze, so doing the facing side of the wheels is not a good idea, but the barrels, perhaps. Except using any brush on them later will remove the coating. Armor-All actually makes an aerosol spray coating designed for wheels - it's the only Armor-All product I would ever use.
