looks good! beats spending 4bills on the turner ones. you pretty much did the same thing but welded it on. how's the fit though? how much did you pay to have that done?

The fit is as precise as it gets. Exact position of flanges was maintained by means of constructing a simple fixture of connecting rods and tack welding it to the exhaust before making any cuts. Once all the welding was complete - the fixture was removed. 3.5 hr job for 170 bucks.

The welds look nice, good penetration from what I can see. I don't really like the abrupt transition from the factory flange where the primary cats were to the straight pipe, that seems to be a flow disruption. Probably close to the Turner Test pipes, but that transition means they won't flow as well. But, at least it's a step above normal muffler shop work and keeps the decently well flowing stock hydroformed parts and no crush bends, so good job there.

I agree, they had to get creative a little bit right there because the shape coming off of a flange is not round, but rather oval. The good part is that the ID of the welded piece is the same as the ID of the pipe downstream. It means that although there could be some turbulence going on at that connection - it is not a choke by any means. Ass dyno confirms power gains |

As for the sound. First impressions. When the engine is cold and the first 10 minutes (maybe less) of driving there is a different tone that can be heard, I dont particularly like it just yet, but it is not bad neither. Once everything warms up, there is no difference from stock, maybe slightly louder, but barely. Not worth it to do a video since the difference is subtle at best. |

Originally, i was set on purchasing Akra Evo and i picked up a used delete-r from a forum member here. Well, I ended up spending my akra money on coilovers and wheels, but delete-r came in handy. I dont have a tune, but I am considering it. I am scared of my dealer not liking the tune, I know they wont be thrilled after seeing my "new x-pipe", but I think tune is a more serious deal. If only there was a way to flash everything back to stock tune before dealer visits without them ever knowing that there was an aftermarket tune installed before. I am hearing if the dealer wants to know they will and this is what concerns me.. Comments?

I believe that powerchip tune or even GIAC offers a handheld flash option. |

Nice! Pretty much what my set up looks like, beats paying $400 for Turner test pipe and waiting for months before you receive them. You did the right thing and looks like a good solid weld job. How is the sound and power gains

yeah. right? i don't get why those things cost so much or why they have trouble keeping up with the demand. I'm really surprised no other companies have jumped in and started producing test pipes. i think a lot of people would consider it if they were cheaper and more readily avail.

I had an order for TTPs back in December or January, but the lead time was just rediculous, so I cancelled them. Then I just kept checking every month or so, not ever they were readily available. Only once I was told "they were in stock two weeks ago and quickly sold out, we are expecting them in" 2 months or some shit. I ponder myself WTF the deal is. Sound and power comments above As for the why no other company sells them, I think those things may kill sales of more lucrative X-pipes. It is like in any other business, you want to make sure your low key product does not hurt sales of premium stuff. Just a thought |
