Seriously though: this would be an apposite Harvard BS case study in how not to release a halo product to the largest single market. Poor showing BMW USA!

Good catch mate - slip of the grammar. Yeah, it's lucky we have some land, that way when they back-up they don't create too much havoc!

Ahh, yes. Didn't check this thread and that's what happens when you take a trip to FL.

Have you guys seen this, from BMW club of America?
http://www.bmwcca.org/node/10399 Supposedly posted somewhere by BMWUSA for 2008 prices. Note M3 coupe is listed in the "low 60s." If true, I don't think this bodes too well for sales considering how skimpy BMW equips their cars. If my version of the car gets me into the mid $70K then I'll just wait and probably go for a GT-R if the car lives up to expectations. EDC and the dual clutch transmission will probably be close to $5K and you'll have nothing else without spending a bunch more $$. |

Ditto for me. M3 + options cannot be $$$ > GT-R, that doesn't make sense. Had not seen the bmw cca commentary - well, we can only wait and hope that rationality prevails! 997 anyone?

I really wish they had given it the Skyline namesake. How awesome would the GTR look with the signature S K Y L I N E across the back!
They even kept the production naming convention as R35.

I am also loosing patience, although I won't buy a new car until May. The thing is that I don't want to get too excited with the M3 without knowing the price as I don't think I will be paying more than 70K for it, specially if they will be charging a gas-guzzler tax and I can get a nice 335 for MUCH less.
For how much would I be able to get a 45k 335 coupe??? 40k?? |

The news might be getting worse. First BMW CCA says that M3 base will be in the low $60's range and now I see on Road and Track's review of the M3 that they are projecting the base to be around $65K. Neither are definative, but perhaps the base might not be in the high $50s afterall. There's a lot of competition, maybe more than there was for the previous M. I guess we'll see what that does for demand.
