Aftermarket alarm systems

I see that BMW has an OEM alarm system that can be added but it uses microwave sensors which I dislike because they are typically unreliable compared to shock sensors and door pin switches.

I notice that there are some aftermarket alarm systems available that tie into the factory system and use shock sensors. Anybody tried one of these systems yet. I know Viper has one and I'm sure there are others out there.
