Akra Slip On or M Performance Exhaust?

Hello everyone, I have read many threads on the different choices and I narrowed it down between these 2. Assuming if both could be bought at the same price which one would you pick? Thanks in advance, I have been going back and forth on these 2 for a week and can't decide

Akra is very bassy down low and loud on start up. The exhaust disappears a bit after 5,000 RPM. However, sounds great... very clean sound with a lot of bass. The performance exhaust, from everything I have read and been told is less bassy down low but screams more at high RPM.

how many threads are we going to see regarding this? if you've done enough searching you'd see this discussion over and over again with the same points shared by the same members. I think J08M3's and kitw's are the most honest and consistent as they've had both along with a good number of other exhausts on their m3's.

OP: do yourself a favor and try and hear these two for yourself if the large number of threads and posts that can easily be found by searching is not enough for you to make a decision. Fortunately you are in so cal, so hearing there is no shortage of owners here with either system. And if you haven't already notice, the eisenmann sport system also get's suggested a lot when these two other brands are being contemplated...

Yes, I have read the threads but many seem to factor in the price as the killer for the M Performance in favor of the Akra. My question wasn't really about the diferences between the two (thanks gthal, the input is still very helpful). It was to ask what do the forum members prefer if they had to pick one with price not being a factor?

The price is the same. You're going to pay $3K for either. Maybe a hundred here or there in difference between the two and the Eisenmann for that matter. But it's not like one is half the price. So price is not a factor. If you're looking for used, then perhaps price will matter as there are more akras and eisenmanns than M perf on the used market, but even then the akra and eisenmann are rare.

I should have read your question better.

For me, I would go performance exhaust. Why? Because the Akra was too bassy on start up and I was paranoid driving down my street in the morning. The performance exhaust isn't like this (according to those who have it) and that feature alone is worth the additional price to me. I think both are great quality wise.

I'd pick the M Performance again...even if it cost a few hundred more.

I believe if you shop enough, price is not much of a factor.

I have owned both as a slip-on and personally prefer the M Performance. I think it has a lot more sound character as titanium is a slightly dull/boring sound in my opinion.

OP, I chose the performance exhaust and am 100% happy with my choice. I am also in SoCal if you wanted to hear it in person.
