what about break in? I would love to do ED but I wouldn't do it w/ an M since you can't stretch out its legs unless of course you really don't car about break in....i would do it in a regular Bimmer not my M3 b/c its going to be my baby then you have to get seperated from your car for about another month to ship it back home & thats . before I get my car I'm planning a road trip so as soon as I get it i can get my break in done w/ & become familiar w/ the car ASAP...

I have been tossing around the idea of ED. It would be my first bimmer as well and would love to do it. Still would be nice to drive it around regardless of the break-in, which I would obey. Do you miss the gas guzzler if you do ED?

I thought European Delievery isn't available for M-cars.

I know you can do European Delivery on M-Cars, but the difference is that you dont save any money.

So in case I decide for ED, will all other benefits still be included? For instance, insurance up to 14 days, the Lufthansa 2-1 program, etc. What will they offer for the M3?

yeah that break in part is killing me..but still, it would be so much fun...and besides u could let it go once or twice . BTW how strict is the break in procedure for M cars?

is there a wait list for the ED M3 as well? or can you order it when it comes out and pick it up in a couple of months that way you get the color and options you want. also, this is a good way from paying massive dealer mark-up, yes? but i guess you have to pay for the cost of the ticket, etc.

Did our 2004 M3 by ED with no problem.

Great way to do it and see Germany, Austria, etc.

Had it there for about 1200 miles, but never took it above 105-110.

Too bad, the rental cars I have had I drove them flat out on the Autobahn.

Just plan for enough time to break the car and yourself in. Hopping into your new Bimmer after an 8 hour flight + jetlag and hitting the autobahns for the first time at high speeds is not wise. Take it slow and stay under 200kph for a week, and then start to open it up. Tour the side roads, where the limits are under 130 kph anyway. You and your M3 will benefit from patience. I think it's reasonable to begin exploring the higher reaches if everything seems good after several hundred miles. Just no prolonged high speeds/revs. jmo.

But wow, what an experience. Definitely a dream of mine.

Dunno what the break in period will be but if you do break it in on the autobahn, and the get the service done there so you can really open it up...expect to pay about 250 Euro for that service since it won't be covered under your BMWNA warranty yet.

My dealer told me that ED is not available for the M3. I am not getting mine until February '09, either (that is when my current lease is up).

that dealer is clueless. The ED was always available for the M3, but there no savings since the car comes out of the dealer's allocation

Since BMW is planning to sell 100,000 copies of M3, I think that they should make ED for M3 cars like regular 3 Series and 5 Series. It should not be out of dealers' allocations and include a small discount. This would be great

+1

Find another dealer that has more experience with ED's... What horatiub said is correct - you can do ED on an M series car, but it won't save you any money. I'm considering doing it on an E90 M3 when it's available and am already on a waiting list at my dealer...

ED is a great idea. I regret not doing it with my m5, but will be doing it with the m3 for sure this time around. Keep us posted with your results. As far as I know, there is no discount associated with ED for M-cars.

According to BMW N.A. the currently the e92 M3 is not available for ED however the M5 and M6 are available for ED at no discounted rate. Currently only PCD is available for the new M3.

Not available for ED because its NOT available in the US. BMW N.A is only following BMW N.A procedures until it becomes available in the US. According to my dealer ED IS available for the M3 but just like on ALL M cars there are NO discounts.
