BMW Sea Change

While BMW has gradually changed over the years, the change has usually been positive. The company defined what a true sporty luxury company should be.

But as of late it seems they are regressing while others are catching up and at times surpassing the dynamics of what BMW once stood for. What do you think? Should we blame, cost-cutting, product dilution, overall better competition..etc?

Example

Electric steering - All reviews of latest models including x3, 5, and even the next 6 complained of the numb "Audi like" steering.

No more NA engines.

Just do what I'm doing... buy an old one. They are cool anyway... the new cars are enormous portly whales in comparison anyway.

Car manufacturers will be completely unable to meet customers demands for high horsepower and be in compliance with government regulations without FI. If you want NA cars, you will have to be satisfied with low power/performance vehicles. NA+Hi HP+Hi MPG are just not compatible.

Electric steering is in the same vein. They are taking an inefficient mechanical pump off the engine to boost fuel economy. I'm sure it will be refined over time.

BMW, like all others, must adapt or go out of business. I wouldn't advocate the "ostrich approach" which some here seem to think would work....
